Do you actually want Pateryn from MN, or is he there to send cap back to AZ?

I've played with a similar idea of Stephan/Raanta to MN. I was thinking Donato 1-for-1 for either of them is probably close in value. A 2nd or a 3rd for the other one.

Hjalmarsson gets more than that probably, especially at 50%. At least conditions on the pick based on how many games he plays or something

If there wasn't a pandemic and hardly any teams able to take his contract even at 50%.

Noone would be able to take a veteran defenseman at 2.5M caphit and $1M salary obligation? That seems pretty pessimistic...

Toronto , Pittsburgh , Nashville , St Louis , Edmonton , and i'll keep going Montreal , Minnesota , Washington , Anaheim , and Boston , The team with lowest cap hit right now is Vegas after you consider LTIR players and they still have 4.9M in cap space , your still forgetting that 16 teams right now have north of 10M in cap space and majority of those teams free agents and even restricted free agents wont be coming back if Bjugstad's at 2.1M , Kapanen at 3.2M can get moved and montreal signing Edmundson at 3.5M then Hammer at 2.5M can definitely get moved

Some can but how many players are available? How many teams can add salary and how many teams will want to? I think everyone is hopelessly unrealistic on how this summer is going to pan out.

And you forget that a some of those teams you mentioned don't have much cap space, some are not looking to add salary due to lost ticket sales and almost all have players of their own to resign. FA's this year are going to feel the pinch, teams needing to shed cap to sign RFA's are in big trouble as well. It's not going to be what people think it's going to be.

I don’t know much about Pateryn to be honest. I figured him and Oesterle could rotate on the bottom pair. But yes part of the reason I sent him back is because it evens out the cap a little bit

You think we could squeeze a second out of Toronto in that trade?

andd just like that Hjalmarsson said he isnt waiving his NMC so that puts atleast the Hjalmarsson conversation to rest but i do agree this free agency is gonna be a lot different from previous years

I'll circle around to Carolina and take Jake Gardnier off their hands for next to nothing - he's literally a half step down from OEL , half the price and half the term

Good luck with that lol. I’d take OEL over Gardiner with the contract factored in every day

He's a less good and more injured Hjalmarsson I guess would be the best way to describe him. He's a nice 3rd pair guy to have, if he can be healthy.

The players going to MN are a decent fit, but I don't see both of them going to MN.

Conditional 2nd yes depending on how many game she plays. Regardless sounds like he refuses to waive his NMC so it doesn't matter
