I mean we have Gio Hanifin Valimaki Mackey on the left side and Kylington is the only one that is unsigned (even though he is an RFA). I think Virtanen is worth the risk.

Mackey is unproven and I fully expect 1 of Valimaki or Kylington (likely Valimaki) to be switched to the right side. Also the 11-7 strat is likely going to become the norm. I have no issues with the value from a Flames perspective but I dont think Flames are in a position to trade defense for wingers

There could be a chance VAN non-tenders Virtanen, if his ask is too high and they can't make a deal. The opportunity could exist to get him for free

I mean if we resign Brodie or Gustafsson I’d prefer them play the right on the 2nd pair, or we get DeMelo or smth, and 3rd pair guys are a dime a dozen. Basically I’m saying we need a 2RD and I don’t trust Kylington there, and 3RD can be anyone, Treliving loves getting depth D (good chance we keep Stone for cheap, and we still have Yelesin for example) so I think we’ll be fine on D. Like if we traded Kyl and kept Stone and got Brodie/Gus/Hanonic/DeMelo for 2RD we’d still have a top 8 I’d be fine starting the year with

I mean we need a 2RD regardless, keeping or trading Kylington doesn't affect that. I'm fine with Mackey-Yelesin being the 4th pair, which only leaves us with a 3RD to get, and those are everywhere (like I said, we could just keep Stone or Gus for that, and there are plenty of UFAs we could get for that too so it's not a big deal either). I think if the trade is right Kylington is expendable, and I'd take the risk on a potential 20 goal right shot guy

Canucks don't really need any LD prospects with Rathbone and Juolevi already pushing to make the team. I also don't like the idea of trade Virtanen to a division rival unless it's an overpay

we have a 3 RD, Kylington/Valimaki. Thinking otherwise is old fashioned. People play on the off hand all the time

My point is we can acquire another guy to play a satisfactory 3RD, and we have the UFA rights to 2 of them right now. A physical, potential 20 goal middle 6 winger is much more rare
