All those teams decline, Why would Florida have any interest in Johnsson and Dermott? Liljegren+1st round picks doesn't get you Rakell. And no freaking way is Buffalo giving up the #8 pick for Andersen+Pittsburgh's 1st Nashville doesn't need Kerfoot they're set down the middle. And FYI Pietrangelo wants 7 x $9,250,000 He's not signing in high taxed Canada for less.

NSH has almost no goalie depth. They aren't trading Ingram.

Buffalo ain't trading down for one year of Andersen. Rakell as 3C isn't that special. Rather just keep Kerfoot, Liljegren and the first rounder. If UFA Talbot is just a 1.5m goalie, looks like the goaltending isn't good enough

Buffalo shouldn't do that, trading 8th overall for a season of Freddy would be bad for the Sabres.

Why wouldn’t they? They are going to lose Dadonov and Hoffman, possibly Haula too. RH dmen are one of their few positions of quality depth, and both players they are getting in return are on good deals.

That narrative is so tiring, he’s a top 10 goalie, and an overworked one at that, just what you guys need lol. If they want to get to the next level it might take a deal like this because no quality tender is signing there as a UFA imo. Keep Andersen under your thumb for a season and work on a new deal, it worked with Skinner. It’s pretty obvious to me that Botterill’s focus has shifted to creating on-Ice results.

Johnsson's a joke he's a 3rd liner at best and in noway does he replace the loss of both Dadonov and Hoffman yeah they decline and Dermott is a bottom pairing LD in Florida and Florida is giving up the best pieces in the deal.

I'm not a Sabres fan, their goaltending is fine, they need better forwards which they should be able to grab a good one at 8th overall.

I'm a Freddy fan btw, just don't think the Sabres should trade down.

This is with the assumption he takes a discount to play in his hometown area with the promise of more starts, something he’s been vocal about wanting. He and Campbell can run in tandem.

Also I can't see Anaheim retaining on Rakell, this would be a return for him without retention and really his contract is already a good value deal, when was the last time a team retained 50% on player they were trading that was already considered a bargain??

I couldn’t disagree more. Rakell at 1.9M has extremely high value, hes an effective producer and can play everywhere in our lineup, plus we’d have him for 2 full seasons, which is about as long as you can keep all these stars together.

And that forward might not be ready for 3+ years if he pans out. You could just as easily make the argument that Buffalo needs a solid goaltender and some depth, not more long-term projects.

To which teams?? You had to trade Andersen for nothing, Kerfoot for nothing, (by nothing I mean cap wise), vastly under pay Talbot and Mikheyev, have Ana retain 1/2 on Rakell, have Simmonds take a 4.3 mil pay cut and save cap in the Johnsson trade just to fit Pietrangelo.

Just sign Talbot for 1 year 1.5 mil and pair him with Ullmark. Save the 8th overall pick. Best of both worlds...

Goaltending really wasn't Buffalo's issue though and there's tons of decent goalies available in free agency that aren't going to cost them the 8th overall pick.
Yeah they need better depth, some better players/secondary scoring in their middle 6 forwards is what they need more then anything, maybe Staal has already solved part of that problem for the Sabres.

Especially for a center. I can’t understand for the life of me why I see so many kerfoot to Nashville proposals. We have no interest in kerfoot at all

Rakell doesn’t really play center, and it’s kind of a bad idea to pick him up if you want him to drive the play of a 3rd line. If you want to play Rakell and play him effectively you should put him with an elite player, while Rakell isn’t necessarily incapable of elite play on his own, it’s unlikely that you’ll get it out of him consistently. Put Rakell with Marner or Tavares and I have no doubt that he gets 30 goals, and I legitimately believe in that scenario he could get a 40 goal season.

I can see Ingram stealing the starter roll from Saros in the next season or two and Nashville has no depth after him so i doubt he gets traded
