The CBA does not allow conditions involving whether a player resigns anymore. Buffalo doesn’t make that trade unless Danault has an extension in place anyway.

Yep. That is one of the new rules in the current CBA. Personally, I hope the Sabres wouldn’t make this trade anyway. It just doesn’t look good for them. Danault is fine player, but Reinhart is still better. You don’t fill one hole by creating another one.
