Florida says hell No, They need D just as bad as Calgary. Monahan would be a sweet #2 behind Barkov no need for Gaudreau who'd walk in 2 years. Florida's giving up the better pieces here.

Why am I trading Monahan then? Because as good as he is, I don't see this team winning a cup with him as #1C. Trade him for good pieces now while you can, and try to get your eventual replacement through the draft. Let Lindholm hold down the fort till then; I think he's gonna put up similar numbers to Monahan in that role anyway.

Dude Ekblad is 1D in Florida he's by far the Panthers best Dman miles over Yandle or any of their other Dmen it's not close.

I think that's a bit of a stretch. The man put up 41 points in 67 games, he put up a relative corsi of 3.5, and a +12 on an okay-at-best team. Oh and he's 24 years old while playing a valued position (RD). Yes, Calgary's giving up some good players, but let's be honest, so is Florida.
