Detroit says hell yes in a heartbeat, Don't see Chevy unfortunately doing it though.

The DET trade is puzzling to me. DET would be all over that deal if it was offered, but not sure why WPG would do it.

I actually think this is super close in a wings deal, maybe a few small tweeks, but I like the overall idea of this trade

They're not currently getting what they want from Laine. Maybe the smaller pieces can be tweaked, but the idea is Detroit becomes younger and Wpg honestly better for a few years. Imagine Manthas scoring with, you know, actual teammates.

Laine>>>Mantha.

I think people often assume so from things like pedigree alone, but the only tangible advantage I could give to Laine is honestly age. But it makes more sense for the Wings anyways than sitting on a 26 year old who'll be 29 or so before they start competing seriously

I mean, Mantha plays with Larkin and Bertuzzi -- both of those players are good, top 6 NHLers. But Laine has 138 goals in his first 305 games and was on pace have his best season points-wise in his young career - very nearly a PPG. That's very, very good. Sure, Mantha shows promise too - but he can never stay healthy enough to reach it. Ultimately, Laine is younger, a better goal scorer, has more potential, and healthier than Mantha. I really like Mantha, but not at the expense of Laine.

Would love 100% for Laine to be in Detroit that would be a dream come true, But unfortunately in the world world he would just be way too expensive for us to acquire.

Yeah but during most of that time Laine's hardly been a net even players because of his atrocious defense. Bertuzzi is like a good 2nd line winger and I don't see Larkin slotting in at 1C on many competing teams. Health might be a concern though. But if you don't buy the premise that Mantha is better at least currently, then I don't think I can sell you on this.

I imagine Mantha and some salary back to Detroit could do it, but what do I know

I agree that Mantha has a more complete game, but I wouldn't give up on Laine and his goal-scoring ability yet.

Detroit accepts immediately. Laine > Mantha but Mantha would be a force playing with Schiefele, Connor, Wheeler, etc. Maybe take the 2nd out to make it perfectly fair value.

Jarmo has been pretty vocal about keeping Gavrikov. If we cut Stanley from the deal, is there a different D that would work? Savard, Nutivaara, Kukan, Murray, and Harrington (please take him away) are available in the right deal.

I think Murray is the obvious one, but I also think Roslovic is really interesting. I'm not a fan of either team btw, just getting creative here really

I love Roslovic, and he's a Columbus kid. If Murray and a 4th brought back Roslovic, even without the 3rd, I think we do it.

Yeah, I think that's the easy trade to make. But this does provide a bit more to Wpg. It's something to keep an eye on I guess!
