I'd rather keep Holl and Nylander than Dumba

If Kesler was part of a trade like this, he would go in LTIR and not count against the cap, correct? Or is he trying to make a comeback?

Dumba might not see the PP on this team, he won't see the PK.

Seems fairly foolish to give up Nylander for a guy making $6M that would be playing about 18 min night 5v5 time.

I'd rather keep Nylander, Holl/Dermott.

He would be LTIRd but at least 80% of his contract is insured so he isnt actually owed the full amount from ANA, the savings is more around the 2M mark

The Ducks are capable of using the LTIR too, it isnt Toronto exclusive

I’m aware that all teams can use LTIR, and I’m not a Leafs fan. But thanks pal.

Toronto’s advantage is their actual cash. They can help the Ducks by paying the uninsured salary owed to Kesler on the rest of his deal. That’s more valuable in the coming years than ever, especially because Anaheim wasn’t in the playoffs to help recover lost revenue from cancelled regular season games.
Toronto was in a sticky situation recently with Joffrey Lupul trying to come off of LTIR, which would have put them in a tough cap situation. If there’s a chance Kesler tries to come back, it may not be a risk worth taking.

You have them paying Manson what isnt insured though so it doesnt equal any savings and they only get a player they absolutely have no room or need or want for

Lindholm
Fowler
Djoos
Larsson
Guhle
Mahura
Curran

All NHL caliber LHD the Ducks currently have they have less than no use for Dermott while RHD is the biggest need they have and they are giving that up here

Deal makes no sense for ANA no matter how you put it

I’m only asking about Kesler’s situation. Not the whole trade or the proposed team. If the Duck and Leafs found common ground on a trade that includes Toronto putting on LTIR Ryan Kesler, is there a chance that he tries to get medically cleared to play and make a comeback? Or is he done?

A rebuilding team will not be giving up assets, or lessening the return of trade chip to save a bit of money, The Ducks are not a poor team, while yes they missed the play offs / play-in. Bob Murray has to try to keep his job moving forward and minimizing the return of valuable assets or giving up pieces to save them around 2M would be a way to push him closer to fired than not
