I like Virtanen as a player... if he can put it all together I think he can be really solid. but a lot more needs to be coming back to BOS. I’d rather just trade an appropriate pick/prospect for Virt !

Just an FYI for everyone, Virtanen had more points than DeBrusk this year playing with MUCH worse linemates all season. Consistently with Sutter or Beagle it Gaudette as his Center. Also, a Boston fan suggested this on Hf boards and many were on board with it. It’s not fair off, maybe Canucks add a mid round pick or prospect

Here’s the bigger issue. Boston has nobody to replace him. They cannot go into the season with Bjork and Ritchie as the middle 6 wings. On top of that it’s one RFA for another, they are not gaining any cap certainty.

Debrusk has averaged 25g per 82 games in his career.
Virtanen 14g per 82.

Speed game vs. power game.

That’s a fair take. In my opinion it’s more of a change in play style than it is a downgrade. Virtanen brings something totally different to Boston
