Description
Isles proved that they can hang in with the best. Going in to the playoffs I did not think they would make it past the first round but with their young and experienced players they showed people they had alot more to give then what they were perversely perceived as. These experinece with surely help moving foward. Some of there long term contracts still look bad but they sould they can contend in the playoffs for the short term.
Farewell Griess you have been one heck of a goalie. You are one of the most loyal islanders . Your game 7 win will live in the islander history.
PS. Dobson better make it in the lineup out of camp he was one of the best defensemen in Game 6. Please get Mayfield off the penalty kill. Fire Jim Hill. God do we need an elite sniper

They’re a good team, sure, and they surprised a lot of people, but they just don’t have the fire power to win a cup. It will be interesting to see what Lou does.

this is where he really earns his gm award cause re-signing Pulock Pelech, and Barzel is gonna be very tricky and cost him a tonne.

That team reminded me a lot of CBJ...just a step up in terms of talent imo.

Trotz have done great job putting that defense in line...sadly since he's not a fan of young talent, solid players like Dobson get a bit sheltered.

exactly 90% of that award came from Trotz the rest came from trading for Pageau.

While with the leafs he ****ed them over with 2 bad contracts (marleau and Zaitsev) that Dubas had to pay to get rid of. If marleau was never here leafs would have had the 13th oa pick and 15th oa pick and could have brought in some good talent in the offseason like tampa did with there 2 1sts.


Dubas could next season win it if he puts together a solid dcore and the team passes r1 lul which if they get a good dcore should happen cause freddie with help could be in the vezina conversation. All in All I hope someone offersheets Barzel and Lou matches going into cap hell where he belongs

I absolutely adore this team and everyone on it. Hopefully we can keep the core together, get better where we can and come back strong next year. Can't wait to see how we follow it up

Hell of a battle, love the way the Islanders compete and they're better then they're given credit for, gonna be a super interesting offseason for a lot of teams but especially the Isles.

what they need is a franchise star. Tavares leaving still is hurting this team despite them saying otherwise. Barzel just aint that guy yet but could do it one day.

Fair enough, I really think Ehlers should be a non starter for the jets but getting someone like Pulock is fair.

The narrative that trotz is the reason why the islanders are good is BS. Sure he’s a good coach, but he makes self defeating moves and never ices his best lineup. The coaching isolates also have him having an average impact on the team. If anything the goalie coach Mitch korn deserves more credit

Speaking of pageau, he had the best defensive metrics on the team during this run and literally carried brassard and komarov offensively. He provided 1C value, with trotz electing to roll 4 lines, it made sense for the isles to sign pageau to that contract. Team context matters.

hes a star but hes not at that stage tavares was yet. Hes almost there and there is a whole other level to his game that I see him achieving in a few years.
