Let's assume for the sake of argument that Mangiapane is adequate compensation for assuming the grotesque burden of Milan Lucic and his contract. That leaves Hanifin and the first. You'll have a tough time convincing me that they're enough to get you Ekman-Larsson.

What do contracts have to do with anything? Ekman-Larsson is still a top-4 defenseman; Lucic is a bad fourth-liner. Are you confusing Oliver Ekman-Larsson for Brent Seabrook?

Bad take, he is far from a bad 4th liner he is a very solid 3rd/4th liner that is absurdly overpaid

Well, all I can say is he's been awful in every game he's played against my two crummy local teams. He's Nic DesLauriers without the speed.

Ducks and kings games arent relevant enough. Flames play offer vs them as teams naturally. Lucic had a 7.6 GAR this season and a positive corsi. His contract sucms but hes still an NHLer by every measure. Reaves caliber at worse

Fair enough. You see him often enough to have better insight than me and I value the quality and integrity of your opinions.

If the coyotes are to take lucic’s contract than we can easily afford OEL. It’s a price to pay to get rid of Lucic and strengthen our Defence. Plus it opens up a spot in our top 6 to sign Hall.

Like Ledge_And_Dairy mentioned Lucic hasn’t been terrible, he’s a fairly solid 3rd liner who’s just overpaid. I do think That’s a good price to pay for OEL, they get a good top 4 dman at a low cost and ditch OEL’s contract. Plus I think they’re pretty desperate to add a 1st round pick.

Why not? He’s a solid 1B option for the Caps who’s can easily afford it with Holtby gone and it takes some pressure off of Samsonov.

You mean if they can't sign Holtby? And if Samsonov is healthy after missing the playoffs with an undisclosed injury? And if the half dozen proven starting goalies whose teams are letting them test the free agent market don't call Washington first, and get in a negative bidding war?

Rittich is a very good goalie. In a normal year, you could get a 2nd round pick for him. But look at all the UFA goalies out there this year.

If there's a Rittich to WSH deal, the return is likely Panik.

If the goal is to trade him for a pick and cap space, there's a Buffalo fan who wants that deal, but also thinks the team will find a spot to move Hutton's contract.

Yeah it’s looking likely that Holtby doesn’t stay in washington(and in this suggestion I have Holtby signing in Calgary anyway)

All injuries were unspecified this playoffs because of Covid if I recall correctly. Just ‘unfit to play’. I can’t see washington wanting to sign any high profile UFA goalie and having faith in Samsonov goin forward. Getting a solid 1B like Rittich on a short term deal would solidify their goaltending position.

I would think Calgary is likely to trade Rittich for cap spce(if they do trade him) so that’s why I said for the 4th. Could they get a better pick? Maybe. Who knows.
