First, there’s a difference between “can play centre” and “does play centre”. Wheeler CAN also play centre but DOES NOT. Same with reinhart which is why the jets are not interested.

Also, the difference between ehlers and Reinhart is more than a career ahler in dea

Edmonton probably also declines and so does Pittsburgh

Reinhart IS a center.
Also I think you are overrating Ehlers value like every Jets fan does here on CF...

Reinhart is not a centre. He can play centre. If he was a centre he would be playing 2c when he’s not with eichel which he doesn’t. Rather johansson (who is a career winger converted to centre) was playing 2c at times. Case closed.

Imo, ehlers is the better player. Not by a whole lot but definitely more than pretty much nothing in dea. Should at least get a 2nd back since he’s on a good contract long term and is younger. Value wise, ehlers is definitely better. Game wise, I would have a play driving dynamic player like ehlers over Reinhart any day. And clearly so would you, considering you made the trade.

Chevy isn’t guerin, you can’t fleece him in trades

Jets listen to you offer but decline

Ehlers is 3 months old younger than Reinhart lol
Actually Reinhart played as 2nd center a lot since the beginning of its career.
Maybe add a pick but it's a 4th at best.

Larsson > Thompson
Des Lauriers > Lazar
So our compensation for taking on half of Okposo's hit for you is an over-the-horizon second?
No, thanks.

Actually Lazar > Deslauriers but they are different types of players.
Tage and Larsson have pretty much the same value and Tage is just starting its career.
On mid-long term, he could become Anaheim's 2nd line center after Getzlaf retires, which will happen sooner than later.
Also having Okposo at 3M$ is not bad, and if the Ducks doesn't like him they can trade him and retain half its salary if needed.
Retaining 1.5M$ for a 2nd round pick is more than fair. Take away the 5th to the Sabres if you want it doesn't matter.

As I said, even if you add a 2nd the jets decline. Reinhart isn’t a center or he would be playing 2c over johansson this past year. That’s all the justification that is needed.

Lol ok then. I mean, at least we didn’t make ehlers for ristolainen (which make absolutely no senses trades for a year.

Imo, ehlers and laine are untouchable. I’d rather move Connor before moving those 2. And most jets fans feel the same way. Idk why the panelists on tsn put them on the trade bait every year. They will not be moved unless someone blows us away, which clearly isn’t happening here

I'll question your evaluation of Thompson and Larsson as pretty much the same value. When two twenty-three-year-olds have both played 110 games plus or minus 3 and they each have about 18 points and one of them is a forward and one of them is a "defensive" defenseman, they don't have the same value. Moreover, the hope that Thompson could become the Ducks' #2C behind Zegras after Getzlaf retires is a little far-fetched; have a look at Sam Steel's figures. (In 20% fewer games he's scored 50% more points on an offensively-challenged team.) And your blithe contention that Okposo can just be forwarded if desired is a little optimistic in light of Buffalo's inability to move him so far.

Thompson, Okposo with the retention and your 2020 second for Larsson is fair.
