Why, is it cause you don't think they want to trade futures? Johnny is only one year older than Severson, will resign, only $2M more and will likely be way better than 7oa

They aren't trading #7. The last thing the team needs is another 5'8" winger, even if he is better than the ones they have.

Jack Hughes needs a scorer, idk if the devils have a scorer

Gaudreau/Hughes/Palmieri would make a great line, and for at the very least, or most, for 3 years, try to score Barrie too and then the Devils would be almost as if they didn't lose Severson

1. He doesn't fit their compete window.
2. What makes you say he will resign? He was a Philly fan growing up, Salem isn't anywhere near Newark.

What do you think the price on Tkachuk would be? Because that is 100% the type of player NJD would overpay for. NJD has plenty of skilled smalls and unskilled bigs. They need a skilled big.

Matthew Tkachuk IMO would take two 1st, Zacha and Foote, sounds like a lot, but if you look at it in reality, both on paper and in person, I think people should understand, probably throw in a 2nd, Tkachuk is a franchise player, Foote can be turned into one and placing a gamble on those two 1st doesn't necessarily mean that you'll get another guy like Tkachuk back from those draft classes, that's why I threw in Foote

I think that is pretty close to what I expected. I figured there would be a young d-man in there. But If I were NJD, I'd do that.

Zacha

2020 1st ($20 overall)

I'm pretty confident he would. No one know's for sure. If concerned then they could talk about it. He'll still be great though when they hit their compete window in 2 years. I think that it does make sense.

Tkachuk is virtually untouchable. For the sake of cap friendly everybody would have to be on the table, the #7, Nico, Foote, Zach, Smith, Hughes. Some combination of all your top assets. It would never happen but hypothetically

I wouldn't accept that as Calgary. Some of Ty Smith, #7, Nico or Hughes would have to be involved. This guy will lead our team for the next 5-10 years.

I still think that this is a fair offer and would accept on both sides but theoretically would #18 change any of your opinions on the trade

Just for fun here...NJD would say the same about Nico and Hughes.

If they are going to go out and get a big veteran - it would be a d-man. It certainly wouldn't be trading the best d-man.

Severson is a 2nd pair guy on good teams. Subban is hit or miss. Butcher is good puck-mover, but still needs some help defensively. After that its prospects and role players. They need 1-2 big-bodied, long-reach, crease-clearing, defensive stalwarts...that can turn the play around. The rest of their system (speed and puck possession) falls apart without it.
