Description
Stamkos trade could work here if Rangers go win now mode and Stamkos wants in. Chances are Rangers don't make this move but it could be good value for them to land another elite center without losing roster players or a huge portion of the pool. This trade probably only happens for Tampa if they win the Cup and value their RFAs more. Kravtsov could be huge for them playing alongside that talent, and Andersson gets a second chance. The two picks are huge as the Lightning look to get younger while staying competitive. Trade could also include a LHD prospect like Jones or Reunanen or an additional 2nd/3rd if Lightning decline.

Johnson goes to a hopeful team that could use another solid, versatile top 9 guy that can afford it. Chicago could work and may be willing to send one of their extra picks.

Lightning flip the Chicago (Calgary) pick and a 4th, along with Paquette to get Puljujarvi. Oilers get two extra picks and an bottom 6 upgrade while the Lightning take a flier and hope Puljujarvi bounces back like Andersson. May not be the best value for the Oilers, and I think there’s a good chance they receive better offers, but here they get deeper up front and two prospects for a guy who may not play another game for them. I know people have said that JP may come back to the Oilers, so if that does happen then Paquette goes elsewhere for low picks.

Cirelli and Sergachev come back on mid term deals and Cernak gets a deal as a very key defenseman. Shattenkirk earned a raise this year and stays on a competitive team, and Bogosian also comes back for a year. There is a good chance Cal Foote cracks the lineup at some point and makes Bogosian a depth guy. Coburn retires in this scenario, but if he doesn't he could be dumped off pretty easily because of his salary and term. All the younger RFAs come back and get a chance to make the team, in this case I have Stephens in the lineup. This team will have a good chance to make another deep run with Schenn, Paquette, and Johnson being the only guys lost from a playoff squad that potentially wins the Stanley Cup. Kravtsov, Andersson, and Puljujarvi are all risky moves but have incredible potential to make the Lightning even better.

i only see it happening if they really think JP won’t come back and feel like they just have to get rid of him asap. like i said they probably will get better offers but they would want to upgrade the bottom 6, would probably take higher picks though

Rangers can't afford a opt injured Stamkos making $8.5m for the next 4 season or so. And the Hawks don't have the cap for Johnson he wants #2C and Dach is the #2C in Chicago.

if they win the cup without him playing a single playoff game, there are going to be talks. they are deep enough and have enough star power to make this deal, and it helps them bring back their RFAs and depth

Probably get better offers? Holland's ask has been a first round pick or NHL-ready prospect since day 1. Carolina couldn't meet his demands with a package of Kuokkanen and their 2nd rounder. This offer isn't close to realistic.

i’m not that up on chicago’s situation but i had seen some mocks with him to chicago. it could be basically any team that needs middle 6 help but chicago made sense to me as part of a retool to play with their young guys and vets

they could make it work with their expiring deals next summer but it would complicate things. i wasn’t sure about chicago’s cap but i know there are some teams that would want johnson on their 2nd or 3rd lines

stamkos would be the biggest piece they need to become true contenders. it would be best for the rangers if they held off and retained their prospects and picks but they may want to make a move now

If he'd waive i could definitely see Detroit being interested in Tyler Johnson as our #2C. Hearing that Yzerman might pursue him once the cup is over.

right now paquette for puljujarvi is a win. if he says he won’t come back to edmonton then holland has no leverage. lots of different things can happen with that situation to make this unrealistic but none of this is really realistic anyways

I'd highly recommend updating yourself on the Puljujarvi saga. Both he and his agent have walked that statement back, and last reports suggested that a contract is imminent.

Love him but he’s 30 and can’t stay healthy, 3 more years only but if he’s not playing, it doesn’t help.
