Jacob Chychrun is not worth that... He is good but not for that package. Plus you are adding cap dump with him.

I mean, it's a lot in term of quantity but beside Danault, nothing here is a big loss for us. Poehling Mete and Fleury all have potential but with pretty low ceilings. The 2nd rounders are far away and picks outside the top 15 are basically lottery tickets. Grabner is one year away from free agency at 3.5, nothing to bad here either. Chychrun is a top4 defensive stud, maybe loose a 2nd round pick or Fleury and I do this trade everyday.

Even with the retention I wouldn't give the 40th overall pick for Stepan, getting a 4th doesn't change anything, too good of a pick to part with for just another short term piece.

And even if it's an overpay, it would take one to get Chychrun and his beautiful contract out of Arizona (and this is not a big overpay IMO). Seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if the yotes wouldn't be interested in that. That's how good he is and how good his contract is. If I were them, I would only include him in a trade for a big time forward even if I have to add.

Habs don't need D with addition of Edmenson. They need scoring. Maybe explore a Phil Kessel trade. Arizona want to shed salary so could probably get him for cheap.

Yes it would, I know the Jets are thin at center but I wouldn't trade that pick for Stepan, if Chevy is smart he'll wait some of these GM'S out till they have to basically give a guy away if they need cap space.

The price you would have to pay to get a young dman like Chychrun will be to high for the habs.
