Description
Writers at TSN and The Province are both throwing speculation around that the Canucks and Wild could look to do a deal around Boeser and Dumba. What needs to be added if it happens?

If it were 1-for-1 then I'd expect the Wild would have to add at least a mid-round pick or prospect to make up the difference in value due to age and years left with team control. Instead I added Stalock from MIN and a 4th from VAN; Guerin made it very clear he'd be shaking up his goaltending and has Kahkonen ready to step in. For VAN Stalock would provide a capable backup for two years on a very cheap deal which would be huge for their cap situation whether they re-sign Markstrom or go with Demko. Thoughts?

What would you add on the MIN side? I didn't have a great read on what Stalock's value would be; he's a 33 YO backup but his contract makes him appealing.

Not sure how Wild fans would react to this but maybe add a 1st. (a lower pick though, like 18th-30th. Or maybe just a young prospect)

I think the reason people are saying it is only because Boeser is from Minnesota. That's the only fit. Minny needs centre help, while Boeser is good, he doesn't help them there.

Dumba is their best asset and (assuming they choose to trade him) not filling your biggest weakness with your best asset is a big mistake.

Wild need a center. Wings don't make sense for Minnesota. I just don't see it.
Let's say the Wild were interested in this deal I don't see the Wild adding. As you stated Canucks need cap space and I think to get it, it will cost a premium so no add possible that Guerin even asks for a better pick. I do understand Boeser has more value than Dumba but money is huge right now.

Vancouver Gets:
Dumba, Stalock, 1st 2020 or 2021 (either the Pens or Wild pick in 2021)

Wild Gets:
Boeser

Yeah, the need is more from the VAN side, they could use a RD.

If it’s one for one Vancouver needs to add
Dumba is a top right shot has move value then a top 6 winger
Min is going to look at Brock’s contract and see he has to be qualified at 7.5 mil so far Brock hasn’t shown he’s worth 7.5 on his next deal
Dumba his been moved for a top 6 centre van has Gaudette but he only projects to be a 3rd line centre

Don’t see these teams being trading partners

Why spend a good asset to get an overrated defenseman when you can just sign Barrie (who is basically Dumba but with better offense) for free in FA .
People seem to forget Dumba has only topped 30 points twice in his career. His career average is a whopping 34 points per season.

Dumb people also forget Dumba isn’t Barrie and actually gets PK time.

I could see Arizona working into this deal and turning it into a 3-way.

Van gets Dumba
AZ gets Boeser
Minny gets Dvorak/Schmalz (whoever they like better) plus ????

Or else I could see Anaheim being interested in a Dumba for Henrique plus trade.

This is very true. Barrie obviously has some warts, but a team is way better off signing Barrie for what will likely be less than $6M, then trading a Top 6 C for Dumba.

Both are offensive dmen that you don't really want on the ice vs. McDavid, Kuchherov, etc. too often.

And Nylander is the Leafs 4th best forward. What’s your point?

Barrie costing only $$ >>>>>>> Dumba when he costs Nugent-Hopkins level C.

Difference in their own zone abilities does not come close to bridging that gap.

You missed my point, so let me explain it slowly for you.

Dumba being 5th in PK ice time for the Wild doesn't mean he wouldn't be an upgrade for another team with a huge need at defense. The fact that he EVER sees PK time when everyone is healthy on a team with a solid defense like Minnesota shows he's not a complete defensive liability.

Come on bro save the name calling for grade school 😂. My point is valid regardless of if you want to see it or not. Everyone now knows the wild want to trade dumba which lowers his value as well. As pointed out, dumba barely even plays PK when the team is healthy. He's a one dimensional defenseman. There is a better one dimensional defenseman available in free agency that would probably come on a cheaper contract.

OK. My point still stands though. He's not enough of an upgrade defensively over Barrie (not a high bar) to make acquiring him for useful assets more beneficial to a team then just signing Barrie.

The acquiring team is going to want someone to play Top 4 minutes, and PP time. The fact that Dumba can PK a bit does not make him "Nugent-Hopkins" level better than nothing but $$ Barrie.
