Why is Carolina paying to get rid of Reimer and then getting assets back for Mrazek? Reimer is better than Mrazek...

Reimer probably returns a 4th and Mrazek probably goes for a 7th.

I agree that Kuemper is probably the only goalie on the market that is worth a 1st round pick.

nah, Marazek is younger and better. I think reimer had a better 2nd half but over the last couple years, Mrazek has held the reigns.

I agree, but you have to pay something good to get something good. I would say a pick in the low 20's would match the value most accurately. I would've done a slight add for kuemper but Carolina needs cap space too.

Reimer has value, i think the canes can probably get a 3rd back for him they def dont have to pay someone to take him. I get acquiring Kuemper but trading 13 for him would be a mistake, maybe do the 2021 first and make it lottery protected. Would rather sign markstrom

Prob have a better chance to sign Lehner than Markstrom. Kuemper makes 4.5 Marks and Lehner could easily demand 6.5 on the free market. Lehner is getting resigned and i think Vancouver goes with Demko to save cap. I agree with you on the pick value thats why id say go with the canes 2021 first or maybe 2 2nds

Think Canes are after Andersen. If they're drafting Askarov, I don't think they're investing highly for Kuemper.

Reimer was the 20th best goalie in the league in 19-20. He is due league minimum salary in 20-21. He has more value than any other back-up in the league when you take all of that into account. We are not paying to get rid of him. In fact teams will be bidding to get him with Covid and internal budgets. Kuemper will not cost 13OA. Bean and a mid-round pick is at least realistic.

Kuemper has been a top 3 goalie the last two years. Vasy and Hel have been the only ones higher. The point is to win a cup.

I saw that report but the leafs said they wouldn't trade him unless they were getting an upgrade so I doubt it. Askarov will take 3-4 years before he's ready for the NHL and I think the Canes are kind of in the win now mode.

There is no doubt that Kuemper is good. But when was the last time anyone one traded a 13OA (or similar) pick for a goalie. Especially one who only 2 years left on contract. I could see if it were Gibson, maybe. Also if you recall our goaltending wasn't the issue in the playoffs. We need scoring. We can't win the cup if we only score one goal in a playoff game.

I'd do this from Detroit's side. Not really a fan of Reimer but we need a backup and he'd be fine in that role for a season to pick up a 3rd

With the growth of Necas and Svech you guys will be fine. The issue that you guys saw via scoring is because boston breaks zones quick, they play with an active D. The thing with the pick is that who at 13 will help you guys right now or in the next year or so? Kuemper can. the point of the trade is to make your side seem like you win. a top 3 goalie who can get 55 games and about 45 of them at under a 2GAA is good. Clearly I can't sway your thoughts but im saying is that Kuemper is worth at least a 1st. Not exactly 13th overall but just to show youd have to trade a 1st.
