Description
Is this trade fair for both parties or am I completely off? Asking for honest feedback as I do not truly know the actual value Kunin holds. I feel like Minnesota might have to add more but again, would like your feedback!

Thanks.

I don't hate this trade but Domi needs to sign his contract first and it puts us in a real bind come the expansion draft. It would necessitate moving Zuccarello at the least.

Fair point! I figured Minnesota would only pull off the trade if they knew Domi would sign or had an extension ready to go.

Yikes, read the description...clearly asking what a fair value would be as I am not pretending to know. Looks like you're in the minority anyway. Move along.

I think it's a pretty reasonable trade idea. Dude, take a valium!
Does it happen? probably not. But that's the same for 99.99% of all ideas on this site, no?

The relative trade value I think is more or less fair. Not sure that Minny wants to trade a center to get a center though. I think it's more likely that they move one of their D since they can only protect 3 in the expansion draft.

I don’t like it. I would take Domi over this package 10 times out of 10.

If MTL is trading Domi, for me it has to be a top 6 scoring winger coming back. Preferably a physical one. I would rather see montreal package Domi and Mete for someone like that.

I'm also on board with just keeping Domi and making a future duo of him and Caufield as I see similar styles in Domi and Hughes (Speedy skilled playmakers). Get them a physical left winger and watch them go.

Kunin just isn't a fit.

We don't think Kunin is a C. He's got great compete level and some skill so we would listen to offers moving him, but you hit the nail on the head that it puts us in a bind with the D men. If we make this trade, it means giving up a prospect to Seattle to have them take Greenway since I see them holding on to both Brodin and Dumba.

Change the 3rd to PIT's 2021 1st and you'll have MTL's attention.

I’m only speaking for myself here, but i dislike Domi so much that there isnt much i would give for him...and i would only acquire him if I already had another team ready to take him (3-way trade).

I wouldn't mind Kunin but I'd ask for an higher pick (Like 2020 2nd and Minny receives a later pick in exchange?) to really make it worth it, if I make a deal with Minny I'd be targeting Beckman. Habs seemed to have dealt their LD already so Brodin makes as much sense as Dumba so they'd for sure go after a high pick OR almost NHL ready offensive prospects, I'd like Boldy but he's another couple years away whereas Beckman could come in sooner.

Only if MN is in the market for a turnover machine with zero hockey sense. He looks like a chicken with his head cut off most of the time! Great energy, great speed, but no idea what to do with it...

Might be a reach, but that's definitely what MTL would counter with if MIN offered Kunin and a 3rd. Maybe they meet in the middle or they both hang up. I don't know.

FYI - Boldy is a MUCH better prospect and will be NHL ready before Beckman.

Considering a Buffalo fan offered Mittelstadt, Thompson and Montour, i don't think Montreal wld just do Kunin for Domi no matter what draft pick sweeteners are added in.

If you wanted to keep the parameters of this trade, i would say Domi + 16OA in 2020 for Kunin + 9OA in 2020 + 3rd in '21 wld be closer

I think we would rather resign Brodin since he fits the Minnesota MO. Domi would be worth considering if we can't resign him, but we still need to know how much Domi will cost and and Montreal would likely need to add. I like Mete to replace Brodin in the near term but I think they eye Romanov. Obviously the trade gets more complicated from an assets perspective and Montreal shies away because they are rightly high on Romanov.

I think there's smoke but no fire since the building blocks are there but a lot of give and take needs to happen on both sides.

My guess is that a Domi extension comes in at either 5 or 6 years times somewhere between $5.5mm and $6.5mm.
Mete I think on a 2 year deal is around $1.7mm and on a 6 year deal somewhere close to $4mm.

How high a draft pick do you think Guerin would be willing to pay for the combo of Domi & Mete if no Minnesota players/prospects were included?
Alternately, do you think Guerin would trade Brodin for Domi and Mete?

Sounds a lot like Kunin when he came into the league, granted he was much younger. The potential with Domi is exciting and worth it for the right price.

I think Brodin for Domi and Mete could happen at the deadline if Brodin can't be resigned and Domi is still producing at a decent pace.

Regarding the picks, the firsts are off limits. Guerin believes in the new head of scouting and likely wants him to have as good a shot as possible at finding a winner. Any deal for Domi would be a "hockey" deal with a pick used to balance.
