If the Oilers are going to bring Puljujarvi back to Edmonton, they need to bring in Haula. Until he's actually fluent in English, he needs a skater that can communicate with him. Can't hear much from the goaltenders when you're 200 feet away from them.

Haula is a defensive night mare, but I totally get what you are saying.

I mean you traded Klefbom, Nuge, and Khaira. I don't think your priority is to run a defensively sound team regardless.

Khaira bad outweighs his good, meaning his 5 on 5 play outweighs his PK play. Nuge is tough to get rid of, but I am think Bemstrom can pot over 20 goals with his shot in a couple years and we need a goalie anyways. Klefbomb sucks to lose as well, but got to give to get. I think the Oilers are going to puch Broberg even faser than Bouchard.

Edmonton should address there offensive woes through free agency. Klefborn is not someone I would give up as the team defense is not so great.

Athanasiou and DeBrusk are statistically similar over the past 2 years. Your plan is to trade Athanasiou for a 4th liner and then trade Klefbom for his replacement? And then you go and sign DeBrusk to nearly 2x what AA will cost.

Words can't express just how bad that plan is. And don't get me started on that horrid CBJ trade.

I don't care if Khaira never scores again. The man is a penalty-killing machine and I'd give him term on a sub-$1M deal to do that forever. Part of hockey is killing penalties, and it's a role he thrives in.

Nuge was damn near on pace for 30 goals this year. You hope Bemstrom can hit 20. Find a goaltender elsewhere; Korpisalo hasn't been anywhere near as good as this past playoff run during his entire career. Edmonton can't be the fools that buy high on him.

Even if they must give to get, none of Bouchard, Broberg, or Jones should be expected to play top-4 minutes without proving they can do so. This isn't the year to trade either Klefbom or Nurse, and if you're trading one of them next year, it's not Klefbom.

Look what Bemstrom did averaging 12 minutes a night, kid is going to be a star. AA weill never get 30 goals again in one season, guy is a defensive liability. Debrusk will probably average 25 goals a year by time his career is over. Yah 4th liner for AA is to get rid of his cap hit and get a pick back. I saved 2 million bucks and about 35 goals against. Also added what about a 100 goals per year and minus'd Nuges 30. Yes Like I said, I think oilers are going to push Broberg and that leaves no room for either Nurse or Klefbomb. Jones has to make a jump sometime.

Korpi just has never really had a chance to be the guy. But one thing about Korpi is the more he plays the better he is.

Years of sub-.910 save percentages speak against that.

I think if you dig a little past your bias and into the math you'll see just how silly that statement is.

He never really had the consecutive starts. He was always sharing the net. Earlier this season after the Jackets adjusted to life without Panarin, Korpi really did turn it up a notch. He was also an all star, unfortunately he got injured and was unable to participate. He comes back in the playoffs and looked great. Numbers sometimes can be skewed if your not looking at the situations individually.

Of 45 goalies that played at least 80 games over the past 3 years, only 2 posted a worse sv% than Korpisalo. Imagine trading valuable assets for this guy in an offseason flooded with cheaper, better goalies - and then expecting him to be the starter. shakes head

If he sucks on a nightly basis in Columbus, why is he going to not suck elsewhere?

Even his Liiga stats are bad.

I think paying Nuge 7 million a year is going to be silly when we can get 2 guys at 20 goals each at that price and fill out our lineup

Only way Columbus does that is if RNH comes with an extension and is seems that your fellow Oiler fans don’t want Korpisalo. They might like Merzlinkins instead.

This really isn't good for Edmonton, trading RNH is the last thing they should do and Debrusk is meh, shouldn't trade your best dman for a 3rd line winger.

Well I am the GM in this instance and one move leaves to another. Is the team better or worse, because the season after allows for Broberg and Bouchard fulltime.

Koorpisalo is a career backup who had a good 9 game playoffs. I would never give up RNH for him

Now, if it were Merzlikins, I would think about it.

I see that, and Gaa per game is right beside Koskinen, Would you prefer Elvis instead, he is unproven and everyone knows Korpi shows up in the playoffs. Look at his playoff stats the last 2 years.

RNH is with extension obviously, and either goalie works for me, if they want elvis. I can change that easy. But Korpi in playoffs is pretty darn good.I think Blue jackets have 2 more goalies in the waiting anyways.
