Despite what Beast says, the Blues are not doing that deal as is. They have zero use for either of those players, and if you want $1.5M retention it will cost absolutely no less than a high 3rd to acquire Bozak. We need to maximize the savings from dealing Bozak, and chipping away at that is going to cost extra.

Edmonton would pass on that deal have zero interest in Bozak at 3.5mil push he’s a rental, zero interest in any 3rd line centre at 3.5mil rental or not

Fair enough, nobody is forcing them to do anything. They can remain paper thin losers wasting two generational talents, as is their right.

And 1 yr of wasted cap on Bozak is going to right the ship, all taking Bozak does is help the blues. And he was such a difference maker for you against Vancouver

Funny how you skipped right past the Cup winning part and the West winning part to focus on the short series where COVID ate half our defense and Bozak was out injured after we tied it 2-2. He is easily worth 3.5M, he does a variety of important things to help us win.

But by all means, enjoy spending $27M on Kassian and Neal over the next three seasons while you watch the playoffs on TV. wink

Bud, the only thing the Oilers are gonna win is another first overall draft pick which they will blow on another Yakupov.

Eller, Bonino, Bozak, Carter... plenty of championship teams have had 3C's that cost more than 3.5m (or 4.3% of the cap). Not sure what AAV you expect for a 3C these days, look around the league. If you could have Bozak for free basically, at a 3.5m cap hit, seems like a no-brainer to me.

I agree that’s not a bad cap hit for a third line centre Edmonton doesn’t have the cap space to take straight money in money has to go out, Edmonton would be looking for a younger centre with term or a RFA they could sign long term, Bozak is a quality player I could see Edmonton kicking the tires a yr from now depending on what he’d want on a 3 yr deal, I’d think the blues would want to move him at full cap without retaining salary. The Faulk trade and signing is a real head scratcher for me Faulks a good dman but if the plan was to resign PIETRANGELO that’s a lot of cap to try and find and having Dunn needing a new contract to. The current landscape doesn’t help either with the flat cap, moving money just got that much harder as more teams are looking to do the same or get 5-10 mil under the cap it’s going to be a very interesting offseason and I think a lot of fan bases are going to be disappointed in what they get in return on players moving out.

You have literally zero understanding of how winning a championship works. The blues were consistently in the playoffs and only missed the playoffs 9 times. That's an 87% rate of reaching the playoffs. When that happens you end up trending towards late draft picks. Teams like chicago that go through historically good years and then bad years go through feast and famine where as the blues are stuck treading water. You're entire point is what? The blues actually field a hockey team year in and year out and fight to win the cup, where as EDMONTONs free loading a** waits around for draft picks. So right before Edmonton went on their brief run at the cup, they finagled to keep gretzky, then drafted 6oa, then 8oa before winning. Hence why your team has gone to the playoffs four times in the last two decade's and you have a grand total of around 50% playoff rate in your team's history. You've had four 1OA picks this decade and you still have a challenge making the playoffs.

in a rising salary cap I would agree, but at this rate flat cap and more of a need for the salary cap with the FA coming up soon, it's probably something we have to do right away.

1 cup in 53 years, but only missed playoffs 9 times in 53 years. You have had the best player in the league for 4-5 years now and waste his talent there because the rest of the team is pathetic.
