Coyotes definitely reject Kuemper > Andersen , Crouse > Johnsson mostly cause of contracts

Coyotes are going to be in a very bad financial situation for the next few years and will need to shed dollars (not cap, actual salary). Andersen only makes $1M in salary next year, but counts as a $5M cap hit. That is very valuable for a team like them. Further, they may be going back into a rebuild and he could be a strong trade chip at the deadline for them as well.

Crouse is a third/fourth liner. Johnsson has played very well in top line minutes with Matthews in the past. Don't undervalue based on recency bias.

Overall, this is as much a financial decision as it is a hockey decision.

Andersen is owed 1 million. For a cash strapped team looking to cut costs, that is a big win.
