Not at all, that's how useless he is, rather keep the pick that won't be an NHL player and you can keep your contract and cap hit.

1- Surely you have to realize that Arizona is not going to add cap right now.

2- Engvall has more value to the Leafs than yet another loooow draft pick.

3- This Anaheim trade would be quite unwise.

Coyotes definitely reject Kuemper > Andersen , Crouse > Johnsson mostly cause of contracts

Coyotes are going to be in a very bad financial situation for the next few years and will need to shed dollars (not cap, actual salary). Andersen only makes $1M in salary next year, but counts as a $5M cap hit. That is very valuable for a team like them. Further, they may be going back into a rebuild and he could be a strong trade chip at the deadline for them as well.

Crouse is a third/fourth liner. Johnsson has played very well in top line minutes with Matthews in the past. Don't undervalue based on recency bias.

Overall, this is as much a financial decision as it is a hockey decision.

1. This is not about cap, it's about actual salary. Andersen's is only $1M next year. Arizona is going to try to shed salary this offseason due to lost revenues.

2. True. This is just a trade in theory.

3. Why?

So you think the Coyotes are going to trade their number 1 goalie and a top 5 goalie in the league right now for 1 year of Andersen lol . Coyotes have other players they can trade to shed salary other than just Kuemper . Their not going to undervalue Kuemper just cause they need cash like Elliott Friedman said Kuemper is going to get a massive haul for the coyotes

Andersen is owed 1 million. For a cash strapped team looking to cut costs, that is a big win.

Its no where near a big win for the coyotes it would be a colossal L , Their not trading Kuemper for money reasons they have other players they can move for that purpose . Kuemper is only on the Trade Block because they can get a massive haul for him like Elliott Friedman said

Sure, every team is going to get massive hauls when they cut cost this off season with a flat cap.

He's on top of the trade market for Goalies and not ever team is going to cut costs by trading players , teams can simply cut costs by buying out players and not spend the bank in free agency and also something called retainment gonna be pretty effective this off season

There is a flat cap, more teams need to cut salary than ones who have space, Arizona is hemorrhaging money and lost picks due to their combine ****, and with the pandemic the economy sucks. So with all that in mind your answer is, teams will buyout players (costs money and cap space) and retainment (not a word) makes everything easy. Sound logic there.

1- Ah, touché. I had that backwards, it was in my head that his real dollar salary was $4M w/ 1M in bonuses. Carry on. squinty smile

3- Because Manson seems to be slipping hardcore, while Lilly seems to be right on the verge of becoming precisely the type of RD Leafs fans have been dying to pair with Rielly (plus youkeep the 2nd and don't have to pay Kesler $13M to be garbage).
