I thought the drop down was enough but I add an early 3rd round pick to make sure

I actually think it would not be worth it for the Jackets. To me Anderson is worth more than just a move up 5 spots and a third. I don’t see the Jackets being interested in this.

I totally agree. It's not like in the NFL draft (although even there) where the difference between 16 and 21 is a little more pronounced. Too much parity with hockey players. Not enough for Anderson IMO but decent thought process.

I disagree. The difference in who's gonna be available at 16 and 21 isn't that notable this year. None of Holloway/Zary/Mysak/Foerster/Bourque/Amirov/Brisson are likely to be ready to contribute in 20-21, and at least one (and probably at least two or three) of those guys will be available at 21.

Now, if by some miracle someone like Holtz, Quinn, Lundell or Mercer should slip to 16, it's possibly a different story.

We get to move up 5 spots in the draft and we are getting a 3rd. The difference in the 1st could mean the difference of getting a player like Zary or getting like a player like Foudy.

You would be wrong then. There’s a lot of hype on this draft, just like there was last year and almost every other year. Moving up 5 spots just means there’s more on the table for us to pick.

Also I don’t want any of the players you named to drop except Holtz and possibly Mercer. Lundell was dropping all year and Quinn was a shock the rose super quickly at the end of the year and imo is all hype.

The players I want Columbus to get one of; Zary, Jarvis, Mysak, or Gunler. All of them will be NHL ready by 2021.

Well, Mysak and Gunler are both fairly likely to be there at 21, and Jarvis and Zary conceivably could be, too. So giving up Andy for the five-pick difference doesn't appeal to me. And it definitely is a well-hyped year because it's a very deep draft, which means good things for us despite picking in the back third of the first round.

I'd rather keep our spot and add a second-rounder instead.

So you rather have a late 2nd rounder vs Anderson than moving 5 spots in the first round and getting an early 3rd rounder ? Make sense bud !

I’d doubt any of them are available at 21st OA. We also aren’t adding a 2020 2nd for Anderson. No one is going to trade more then a 2020 3rd for him with his injury and lack of wanting to be in Columbus. I’d be that Anderson signs a 1 year contract and either walks at the end of the year or we get a trade package like Chicago got for Lehner as everyone knows Anderson would rather no be in Columbus.

I meant a second and a third, rather than just the five-spot difference and the third.

Given Dreger's recent comments about Anderson having interest in a long-term deal in Columbus, and the fact that a contract above $2.181M (which his camp will surely demand) will require at least a 2021 second-rounder on an offer sheet, I'd say the bidding starts at a 2020 second with sweeteners thrown in. My preference, though, is to sign him to a 5x4 deal and figure it out. He can't reasonably demand a lot more money than that, and if he really wants long-term, then he gives us a much stronger forward corps.

EDIT: And every single mock I've seen has at least two or three of the Mysak/Zary/Foerster/Bourque/Gunler/Brisson/Amirov group available at 21.

Actions speak louder then words. I’ll believe Anderson wants to stay when it happens... his actions around the shoulder injury and not trusting the team doctors or the team.

Also Derger is known for not having the best information...

Oh, I fully believe that Darren Ferris leaked that to Dreger. My question is... why? What's the endgame for doing that? What does Anderson's camp get out of it?

It helps him with potential offersheets and teams who’d be willing to trade for him. It shows he’s willing to sign somewhere long term. I highly doubt he’d do that in Columbus.

Which, in turn, helps Columbus by driving up demand for Anderson. So that rumor is not a bad thing, in my opinion.

Never said it was bad.... just said it’s not a great source and I’ll believe it when I see it.
