I'd say RFA rights for Dermott and Anderson are pretty equal or slightly higher for Dermott since he's D and not forward. But Nylander is a good playing on a pretty good contract and a 1st rounder for Jones for 2 years. Is it really that far off value wise?

if you are going after Jones, I think the leafs would have to start with marner. Also, Engval and a 2nd would get Murry from Pitt. Send Anderson to Calgary for Bennet and send kerfoot to Montreal for a 3rd. It would give them more options if they want to sign some size for the 4th line. Good start though

The only way Columbus moves Jones is if Matthews is involved in the trade. That 1st will likely be very low so it loses a lot of value, Nylander is good, but I’m not moving Jones for what would be a 2nd line center for us....

I doubt you understand, the value in defense. NHL has become such an offensive game it's hard to find defensive talent like Seth Jones, Colton Parayko, Hampus Lindholm, Brett Pesce. They ask so much for those guys because they are worth it. In my opinion Top Defenseman is worth a Top NHL Forward not a bunch of middling forwards. This is what Toronto is not wanting to hear they want to be able to keep the core in tact get rid of the spare parts and get an NHL All-Star for it. Defenseman lack value in most casual fans eyes, but for the big fans we know. Defenseman are about the most underrated thing on here, and 2 they are about the most valuable thing in the NHL, and 3 their is a scare amount of Elite Defensive Defenders. Seth Jones is Offensive and Defensive. I doubt you understand that Seth Jones is worth one of your top guys, and I'd argue yeah it would cost Matthews one for one.

I disagree, as he has posted some good years offensively, and defensively. Might be inconsistent, but he has had some well done years. saying Jones has been mediocre is basically saying Quinn Hughes had a mediocre year because their stats when Jones was in his younger years had stats very alike to Hughes.
