Shaw on IR until its certain he'll play

Not sure VAN wants to move Demko if not replace with Lind and call up Delia

Potentially trade Crow at the deadline to start Demko the rest of the season and pick up an additional pick

I know so little about the west coast but that Van deal is beyond laughable. My 3 year old rejects it.

Saad=1st
Eriksson's contract=Demko

Could replace Demko with Lind but that Eriksson deal is brutal

The Saad trade to Vancouver is a royal joke, The whole reason of moving Eriksson is so Vancouver can afford to resign both Markstrom and Toffoli. Yet you trade them Saad that makes the same kind of money as Eriksson. So how does this benefit Vancouver?

I think the Jets would be interested in Strome, but I don't think they'd be willing to overpay that much.

Cause Saad is a useful player and Eriksson is not. Put Ferland on LTIR and you free up 3.5 mil. Hawks could retain 1.5 mil if needed

Bottom line Vancouver needs cap relief to resign both Markstrom and Toffoli hence moving Eriksson's $6 million, And then you give them Saad who also makes $6 million per. That trade doesn't give Vancouver one iota of relief.

saad being a useful player has nothing to do with it, Benning wants to resign Toffoli so Saad isn't a need.

Wings pass, most you get is a 5th, otherwise keep the cap hit or trade him somewhere else

Strome would be Roslavic and the 2021 1st. The 2020 1st is too much not to mention tossing in a 3rd as well.

I think maata is a perfect candidate for Detroit, young enough with experience with a manageable cap hit

ultimately I don't think hawks are selling b4 Kane and toews contacts are in last year. Your trades def make us worse now and hitting on kubs and strome trades helped stretch this window slightly

I get it because Saad is a rental, but at $4.5M (retained $1.5M), Saad is a steal. Having both would be huge.

Evolving hockey has Toffoli pegged at $6M for 5 years (The Athletic has $5M). Saad will likely do $4.5M or $5M for 5 years.

NHL Careers (Toffoli is 6 months older)
Toffoli = .57ppg & .27gpg
Saad = .59ppg & .29gpg

Personally I'd rather have Saad as he has been a more consistent player whereas Toffoli had 2 big years (including this past season), but has had a number of bad years. Saad had one bad year otherwise is highly consistent. So I think if Saad would agree to an extension as part of the trade it makes some sense. That said, hoping the hawks get an extension done with Saad and he stays in the red and black sweater for years to come.

We can do better then a 5th rounder for Maatta and personally think the Hawks should keep him and move De Haan. Maatta played his best hockey in the last 20 games of his career and at 26 there is definite upside.

New idea for the Jets trade. Jets send: Roslavic, Perreault, 2020 1st for Strome, Shaw, and a 2nd or 3rd

he played top4 min for hawks in playoffs.. he s better than you give him credit. A third is possible for a team that needs d (like Detroit) unfortunately Yzerman is the real deal so prob a 4th.

Plus we aren't trading picks during a rebuild for guys who should go elsewhere

I can see that that. This past season was embarrassing for a proud franchise. Literally the worst season in history (& didn't win lottery) you have to put nhl caliber players on the ice..

Not really, what's the point? Get a worse draft pick? Rather rebuild the correct way through the draft and be patient. No need to give up a 3rd when we can sign a guy who will do the same for us
