Wait a minute, you get Saad and Caggiula for a downgraded version of Saad, then you flip Saad AND Danault to Winnipeg and screw Chicago over even more. When will it end?

and if they do happen to accept, you can't flip that #9 overall, take it, draft Lundell or Sanderson.

you'd be cap strapped with Laine, Brodin, Petry, Gallagher Armia, and KK (and Suzuki the following year).

The Laine to Montreal move is bad, because you'll have to pay him his 8.5-9 he'll probably want.

Bergevin has a knack for screwing chicago in trades... so, this is plausible. lol

I agree, but come on, it's really not close. The hawks weren't high on Danault when they traded him for Weise and Flieschmann. The hawks were high on Shaw when they reacquired him and they are high on Saad now.

I would say there's been equal screwing from both sides. Hawks getting the pick for Shaw that turned into Debrincat, Habs getting Danault and the pick that gave them Romanov for trading Weise+.

Montreal fans overestimate the trade of value of Domi and Lindgren frequently. Can't think of a good trade...then add "extension" to make it seem viable. Extensions a year away...happen so very rarely.

Im not overestimating. Domi with term and under control beyond 3 seasons for Brodin who will not resign in MIN and Greenway who is bottom 6. Lindgren was literally included because he is from Minnesota and if they do what I think they're gonna do and get rid of 1 goalie to play kaapo kahkonen in the NHL they will need another AHL goalie. It's basically a first and Brodin (UFA 1 year) for Domi (3yr extension then RFA) and a 2nd. And then Greenway RFA rights for Lindgren and 4th.

Well thought out but easy pass from oilers. JP I just don’t see being in play Holland seems committed in his return. Trading down while not impossible I just don’t see happening considering names that could be in play any slider within that range is huge addition. Really good draft location. I get neals inclusion with no retained money will be seen as big deal by some I really don’t think it is. That’s 19 goals in a shortened season while playing clearly hurt for a large portion that could easily be subtracting 20-25 goals which is a large task for Tatar to not only replace but justify additions of jp and trading down. I do respect the thought and quality of offer but think it’s unfitting for Edmonton to consider accepting. It’s good enough offer wouldn’t hesitate to answer a future call from you. Thank you for that.

If you can get Gallagher to take another discount(6 mil and below), keep Armia below 5 and KK bridge deal you can afford to keep Laine and Petry. I only acquired Brodin for 1 year to give Romanov a full year in the AHL. My thought process was if we are making the playoffs keep him as our own rental and if we are not making the playoffs we trade him at the deadline to get assets.

Thanks ! Just trying to mix it up from all the "DOMI FOR EHLERS" posts that I have seen (and also posted myself lol). That was exactly my thought process tho. Tried to replace the picks that EDM does not have since they have a 1st and then nothing until the 5th. Which is how I justified the 2 pick slide from 14OA to 16 OA and gaining a 3rd and 4th this draft and then Tatar with extension for a buyout of Neal and RFA rights for Puljujarvi.

Any thoughts on the rest of it ?

Domi has no contract at the moment, and he'll be a UFA in 2 years unless the contract he signs extends beyond that. I have no clue where you're getting the idea that he has 3 years left on his contract and then he's an RFA. That's entirely incorrect.

And I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that Brodin isn't re-signing in Minnesota. By the best of speculation, it's Dumba that will be traded, Brodin re-signed.

Maybe the worst Domi trade I've seen so far. I'm not sure I'd even pay a 2nd for him straight up.

http://prntscr.com/ue12eg

Just a screenshot of where I saw he would be an RFA if he resigned for the next 3 years. That's why I said it. I just went and resigned him for 5 years at 5.5 million and it still says he would be an RFA (which can't be true as he would be 30). But yeah just showing you why I thought he would still be RFA.

I did take notice to the replacement 3rd and 4th and truly do respect that consideration. As for the rest I’m not sure it’s a lot of movement of big pieces in most of the trades involve players who’s value is all over the place. I personally wouldn’t make a laine trade knowing I wouldn’t be willing to give up anything close to what jets fans would consider acceptable. Domi is another one I personally don’t value half as much. Domi for Brodin straight up is something I’d consider if gm of wild but I can’t honestly say I’d accept it because not sold enough on him as a top six centre to give up what I am i confident with lineup. I think the hawks trade is heavily favouring habs. If hawks are interested to move saad to save cap space they will have plenty of teams willing to outbid this offer. That’s just my opinion haven’t read the rest of comments but betting at least 2 or 3 not in flavour of that one.

Those are a lot of if's, and the cap is expected to be flat again.
I'd rather have Tatar and Gallagher as a 25 and 30 goal scorer than Laine at 35-40 goals. Depth will get you further than a single stud ever can.

Brodin and dumba are best friends off the ice. Brodin will resign wiTh Minnesota unless he suddenly wants to go to Seattle.

Domi isn't worth Brodin or 9oa, yet somehow MTL gets both of them?

Your math wrong on the team control for Domi: 27/7 rule is 2 more years of team control.
Lindgren has little to no value for MN too. They already have 6 goalies (one can slide) under contract for next year, and AHL quality goalies are easy to get as UFAs or from waivers.

I meant the Tatar trades. Yes RFA trades are OK, even without extensions cause teams have "control" of the player
