WPG could get a better 2C than Schmaltz for that package...

If I’m Arizona GM I decline
Schmaltz = 2021 1st + Roslovic
Demers = Perreault + Stanley
Rather keep Dvorak Schmaltz running 1C-2C

I don’t think so. I think Montreal would ask for 2020 1st and same with Tampa.

Sorry man idk if you were being sarcastic with the original comment or this one.. Lol

Idk, maybe but I really doubt it, not sure this gets Schmaltz either though.

Is Danault really worth 10th overall??
I like the guy but idk, like you'd have to be signing him to part with the 10th overall pick obviously but still seems pretty steep.

I would hope the Jets wouldn't consider throwing away 10OA on Danault even with an extension. That is far too steep a price. If he wants out of Montreal he shouldn't cost that much.

Yeah I agree, even though I think Chevy needs to
**** or get off the pot with what direction he's going to take this team he really shouldn't make any rash decisions either, if he plays his cards right hopefully he can pick up what they need from some cap strapped teams without selling the farm.

I just hope he isn't taking a Dayoff when or if these deals start to happen!

Yup. We actually have cap space to make some moves, so it would be nice if we took advantage of that.

At this point, I don't think the Jets have any untouchables, but it will likely only be small moves that the Jets make. If Chevy moves one of the top 5, it has to be in a move that fills holes with quality players, it can't be a bunch of lesser pieces that are bandaid fixes like opposing fans hope. But, we both agree on that.

Arizona says no. Roslovic is replacement-level, Stanley is a bust who will probably not make the show, Perrault is an obvious cap dump who is made of glass and no longer useful. The 10th overall pick is the only thing of value here.

So let's say the Jets do trade Laine and let's say it's one for one for Ekblad, not sure Florida does that but let's just say they do, are the Jets back to being contenders? Could we fill the other gaps in the lineup with the cap space they have through free agency or trade to be good enough to really be classified as a contender?

That's a 2021 1st, not the 10th overall pick in this upcoming draft which even more inclines you to say no.. Lol

I don't know. I think that trade would make make the Jets defense better, but hamper the offense quite a bit, so the overall results probably wouldn't push the Jets forward. Unless, of course it just turns out to be the perfect mix for Maurice's coaching style with that change and FA pickups.

I think if it is a trade that is made, it will likely be another one that no one sees coming and patches a couple holes with younger players, that will take a year or two to build on.

So, overall I don't know if there is any trade or signings that make the Jets contenders again next season, without some fluke of coincidences and everything hitting just right. I mean look at Vancouver and the Islanders this year. If you start rolling at the right time anything can happen. But, l do think a smart trade and FA signing or two could get is back up there the season after next.

Yeah and that's what I think too, the offense will take such a hit you're really no further ahead, once again people can bash the defensive games of some guys like Laine, Connor, etc but in the end you need to score goals too and if you're not putting enough pucks in the net you're going nowhere.
Also it could work with a big overhaul to the bottom 6, a new 3rd line that could produce at an average rate of what most 3rd lines do and pick up a bit of the slack from losing Laine but that'd mean taking Lowry away from Maurice and I don't see that happening either unfortunately.

I don't think Maurice's coaching style would work with a team full of All-stars.. Lol

Take a look at the free agents in 2021, pretty slim pickings, this seems like the year to grab a guy or two if they'll sign in Winnipeg and thats if they don't cause any future cap issues, not major ones anyway.

I don't think either the Islanders or Vancouver get enough credit for the teams they are, they're actually fairly well built the both of them, yeah they have some dead weight here or there but on paper they're decent teams, Trotz really has the Islanders playing well though so there's that, their TDL acquisitions really paid off for them too.

2021 1st and Rosy is more than an O/S....TBL will also get a cheap but decent player in Roslovic

I see, yeah with the way Cirelli is valued it seems like it'd take 6 quality pieces to get him and even that wouldn't be enough in some people's opinion, I really have no idea what his value is to be honest.

His value is just a bit better than an OS as I would think a few teams will try that....TBL has big problems with the cap

After Tampa acquired a couple guys at the TDL with term in Coleman and Goodrow it made me think that Brisebois knows that some of his guys with trade protection will waive and he knows there's a market for Johnson, Palat, Gourde, Killorn, etc, also if they win I wouldn't be surprised to see Coburn retire so that'd help their situation a bit.

Wouldn't be surprised if Cirelli and Sergachev sign bridge deals like Point did, Tampa always seems to figure their cap issues and can't see them letting Sergachev or Cirelli go, I do think the Jets coud maybe get Cernak from them though, he seems like the most likely of Tampa's rfa's to be a cap casualty and the Jets coud definitely use a big RHD.
