ghost is worth maybe a late third

Hes just 2 seasons removed from 65 pts, a solid number 3 dman who has scored around 40 or more in 5 seasons and still on the young side, signed reasonably for 3 more seasons. This was the only year he didn't score 37 pts or more and was injured most of this year and the flyers are stocked. The flyers caught fire in his absence in the second half of the season. Ghost was not going to play in front of provorov or sanheim at LD and the flyers have 4 guys in their top 4 who are 30 pts or more and can rush the puck. The flyers played Hagg in the playoffs as the 3rd LD as hes more of a crease clearer and hitter, so its not like Ghost is the 7th best defenseman on the roster, its just he isn't a good fit anymore in Philly.

Maybe, but hes a reliable 45-55pt winger, with size. He just isn't a fit in Philly, when you consider that Giroux, Lindblom, Farabee, Raffl are all at LW. JVR had smaller returns this year as he was getting just 14 minutes a game, but hes a reliable pt producer whos 1-1.5mil overpaid, and NJ needs someone of his talents for Nico/Hughes.

Hes just not a fit in Philly, and lost his confidence in the playoffs, (but then with the linemates he was given, that was no surprise). Maybe asking for a 2nd and 3rd in 2021 is too much, but the 2020 3rd is low.

I feel like if the Flyers were going to pay Elliott $2m they would have signed him for two years last off-season. I feel like he takes a pay cut and I wouldn't be comfortable paying Hagg or Patrick that. Hagg probably signs for close to what he already makes and with the uncertainty of Patrick's health nearly $1.975m is a lot for a guy who isn't playing especially for that long of a time
