They don’t have the cap space. They have a lot of RFA’s to sign it may look like they have a lot of space, but they really don’t.

10 mil cap dump costs a 1st+, 6 mil this season cost a 1st, 6 mil 21-22 cost a 1st. And you're walking at adding a 4th line winger?? Keep Baertschi and Eriksson and don't re-sign Toffoli and Tanev...

overpaying Leivo and you're paying Gaudette over Virtanen? Virtanen had a career year in goals. Gaudette overpaid as well

Sabres don't need anymore dead weight tying them down.

That Leivo contract is pure insanity.

Buffalo is taking on your 2 worst contracts for what would be a late 1st rounder. Eriksson and Baertschi are both terrible, you should have to include a high pick for each one. We’re asking for a young 3rd line player we can use in exchange for taking 2 useless players. It’s more than fair.

Baertschi isn't the problem, he toil in the minors he wants to play in the NHL again he will agree to a termination

Cap hit on Eriksson is 6 Million, actually salary is only 4 million, that doesn't cost a 1st. buying him out would be cheaper.

Its not worth for Buffalo to take Eriksson's contract for only a late 1st round pick in a weak draft

no chance in hell, Baertschi can rot in the AHL and Eriksson actually 4 million salary can be bought out.
1st is too much for Eriksson alone, but eh ok, just the 1st is fine or,
2nd and b prospect or
3rd and virtanen

Then why trade a 4 mil contract?? Seems like a good contract for a team like Van. Saved money over cap.

Marleau's contract was 4.25 mil, Tor may have paid his 3 mil signing bonus, and still cost pick #13. I still believe ,and I could be wrong, it's still a cap league. How much cash is irrelevant. It's cap that matters...

two of the worst contracts out there and for you to stay competitive in a flat cap world is gonna cost more than a mid to late first

Sounds like Van should keep them, buy then out and hope Baertschi is willing to walk away from 2.4 mil to sign a minimum two way contract and spend most of the year in the AHL on another team...

not to teams like Ottawa or Detroit who need the "cap" number to reach the floor. the marleau trade cost the TML the 13 cause the Carolina owner agreed to buy marleau out...Vancouver isn't asking a owner to buy Eriksson out, Vancouver is asking that team to take on his Cap number to help them reach the floor

In my mind any team that needs cap relief to sign more important players should be paying through the arse to get that relief, especially with the flat cap. There's only around 7 teams in position to take on these bad contracts. Vancouver is at 64.4M next year for 16 contracts, they have 5 RFA's to sign plus Toffoli and Tanev as UFA's and that's not counting Markstrom who they may just let walk. Also needs a back-up goalie so say 800k to 1.3M added to the 64.4. If I'm a GM you're overpaying for my help

Unfortunately every team is on pace to hit the cap floor. It's the cap limited that teams have to worry about...

Actually this year really isn’t an issue. I can get every one under the cap with terminating Baer contract and send Eriksson to the minors.

It’s doing all those signings and maintaining 25-27 million for 21-22 season.
