Trade Tatar to a direct divison rival while getting a good 4th liner and a late first in 1 year (so a player with small chance to be anything good in 3 years minimum), seems like a good plan to me! Seriously, even as a pending UFA or at the deadline you can get better for him.

If we trade him during the offseason, that's about the best we could get for him considering his playoffs performance. Also, nothing says the Bruins 1st will be a late first, especially if Krug & Rask aren't back.

Agree about boston, they could decline very quickly but they still have a pretty good roster and some upcoming young players than can fill some holes, the goaltending situation could be bad tho but I bet they still finish in the second half of the draft. Even with a bad playoff reputation, a 60pts wingers under 5M for 1 year is pretty valuable. Im not saying you can get muuuuch more than that but definitly better. We saw GMs giving away similar or more assetes for less good players. Its just a matter of timing and circumstances.

Could get more for Tatar and we won’t trade him to a division rival Sticking Out Tongue I know you hope that pick is gonna be high but Boston will still manage to do the playoffs

They accept, but "run" is a strong word. Tatar in that case doesn't come extended so it's a pure rental move

We could get more if he's extended, which isn't the case there. For a pure rental its a fine move

Exactly, he's probably just a rental, is LW and I'm sick of trading the 1sts. But we get rid of Ritchie so that's a plus.

It's may be your last run with the current core as Krejci's and Rask's contract expire next year, so trading a 1st is a good investment

I would be willing to, but for an RW like Palmieri.

But they had the money to get a better player so that's pretty offsetting. I think Sweeney is too conservative. He never makes a big add. Just overpays for small ones.

Had to get rid of Backes' contract for this summer and next year. More time we wait, less teams would have wanted Backes.
