Trade proposals can be bad for both teams. BUF has the cap space to keep Skinner and pray he returns to form. NSH doesn't. Rinne would just be a one year stop gap for BUF, and they're not looking like they'll be a contenders yet, so why roll the dice on the more expensive vet? Talent wise, Hutton is a downgrade on Rinne and doesn't make sense for NSH, given they're still looking to be competitive and Saros hasn't had the chance to prove he can be a full time starter yet (not to mention trading Rinne in his final year would be heresy to the fanbase). Montour doesn't make sense for NSH's roster, so if BUF wants to trade him, they'd do better with another team. Trading down in the draft is pretty much a non-starter for the Preds, as the prospect depth is very shallow right now. BUF has a lot more in development right now and already owns a top 10 pick, so I can't see the 11th pick being as dear to them as it is for NSH.
alot o very valid points tho i disagree to some of it.
I made the cap exchange between the teams near equal 11m$(from nsh) and 10.45m$(to nsh) before the cost of montour is added
montour does fit into 2nd pair roll or at least challenge Fabbro for it. RHD's signed for next year are Ellis, Fabbro, Santini and Allard for the big club and farm.
Rinne has history of being better than hutton but is he 4m$ better now i think not. Rinne also didnt really push saros to much if you look at the numbers saros was way better.
name a team that is flush with prospects that is pushing for a cup. good teams generally use there picks/ prospects to do a push for cup.
NSH did that to get Granlund and turris, not great results but proof of point.
more or less nsh only accepts deal if they think they can push for cup with current core. otherwise i think you'd be right and they would want to keep there pick.
