I do love dunn it’s gonna cost a bit more than that to get him though. Danault for me is still a question mark obviously he’s a defensive forward which would help us but he’s also 27. I’d rather go after some younger guys and even go all out on Keller if he could shift back to center

Florida matches.

Blues decline.

Overpayment to Habs so they might consider it, especially if Danault not happy with his role and short term left. But it does not improve their team.

Danault is gong to have the same role in NYC as he would in Montreal, so I'm not sure he'd be any happier there.

The trade is OK, but I'd prefer it if you'd change the Carolina pick for the Rangers' own. That would be great ... really great.

Maybe but he doesn't have an NMC so it'll be their problem.

Was not really about making him happy. It’s how the org feels about his attitude and their willingness to move him because of it.

I don’t think he would be in the same role though. He would be above Chytil on the depth chart and slot in as our 2C next to Panarin, which is a role I’d think most players would be happy with. He would play against other top lines and have the role of shutting them down, but also would have an offensive role which comes with being next to Panarin and Kakko.

Looking at this, the Rangers are a little screwed at LW going forward. They've got Panarin and Kreider signed into the next century for almost $18+M/year and both have NTC/NMCs. Where does Lafreniere fit in? They can't play him as a third-liner and hope that he'll chip in from there. Maybe some serious conversations need to be had about trading that #1 pick for some youngish star power at centre. Maybe see if Anaheim would deal Zegras and the #6OA (Marco Rossi, maybe?) for the #1 overall -- something like that.

Maybe for a year, but Chytil, Howden and Lias Anderson will all be pushing up. He's in the same situation there as he is in Montreal.

I would love Cirelli but if rangers were to offersheet they would pay him 6M+. Didn’t know how the cap could work. But I would definitely prefer Cirelli over Danault

Dunn would fetch something similar to Nick Leddy when he got traded to NYI. He’s a cap casualty for STL and they wouldn’t be able to afford him. I wouldn’t mind rangers paying more for Dunn. Great fit for Trouba.

Every rookie starts on the 3rd line. He’ll move his way up in the lineup and kreider will slot down. Rangers can always trade Kreider in a few years depending if he wants to

Rangers hold a lot of cards. They could probably trade the #1 pick and a banger (Lemieux or Gauthier) to TB for Cirelli and Sergachev. Tampa could hold its core together that way for a year or two and build the next wave around Lafreniere. Rangers would be an instant contender and would stay there for 5-6 years.

I would never do that. Laf is going to be a beast. Best prospect since Matthews and I doubt Toronto trades Matthews for Cirelli and Serg

Andersson wants out and most likely will never play a game in a Rangers jersey. Howden is not ever going to be a top 6 center, his game will never reach that point. Chytil has potential to be a great 2nd liner, but that would take another year, and there’s no guarantee. Sure, there’s people coming up, but Danault’s game would be more valuable on the 2nd line which is why I don’t think he’ll have the same problem again.

It depends on the development track. Most elite scorers don't fare well on the 3rd line and their development gets stunted. Trading Kreider after signing him to a lifelong contract just as the team gets good is considered bad form and would affect future negotiations. No one said it can't be done, but given the general weakness in the Metro division (Pittsburgh is old and slow, Washington is older and slower, too, Philly is meh, NJ is ... well, NJ). using that #1 to vault to the top of the heap would seem a pretty good use for it. Not saying they would, but if Edmonton offered Draisaitl for it, NYR would be crazy not to consider it. (Think Messier)

If you were a Blues fan, wouldn't you want them to trade Bozak and Allen instead of Dunn? To me, it would take Kravtsov and the CAR 1st to let Dunn go. He's a great player just entering his prime. Might be a hot take but I'd rather have Dunn's next 8 yrs at 5.5m before I'd take Pietrangelo's next 8 yrs at 9+.

No one ... I mean no one ... has ever suggested Lafreniere is a generational talent. He's the best of this years crop by quite a lot, but he's not Crosby, McDavid, or even Matthews. He'll be a very good NHLer (think Marner, MacKinnon, RNH, either Sedin, Damphousse) but please don't set him up for failure by thinking he's the second coming. He's not. He's a very good young hockey player who still has a lot to learn ... and, yes, a lot of potential. But it would be a shame if, like so many before him, he starts getting booed by the New York faithless who are disappointed when he doesn't live up to the hype they created.

I'm not suggesting Danault wouldn't be hugely useful to NYR, but he will always be pinched in a Carbonneau-like defensive role because he's so good at it.

1- False.

2- Eh? Like Nick Leddy did when? When leaving the Hawks? Uhh, Leddy landed a bag of flaming dog ****. Not one single game played for Chicago from that deal. Long story short, you're trippin'.
