Habs might say yes to that. It'll mean they could package Danault for a scorer.

I think Sam Bennett is finally finding himself and the Flames would rue the day they trade him. That said, he's the kind of player who could earn folk-hero status in Montreal. The rest of the package doesn't excite me at all.

How's this: Domi and Mete (D ranks are a little thin) for Bennett, Jankowski and a 2022 conditional pick?

What I’m I reading
This is horrible for MTL
The only interesting piece is Bennett because how he played in the playoffs. If you want one guy who’s worth probably a 2nd round pick, you don’t trade our best forward of last year who did 72 points ( since ****ing Plekanec ) for a bottom six player with scrap. Target only Bennett vs 2nd + B prospect, only in MTL we wanted to give Domi 8M long term, one year later we trade him for Sam Bennett and a 2nd round pick lmao

Easy pass for Nj

LMAO

Why do all NJ fans act like Severson is the 2nd coming of Lidstrom.
News flash.. he's not that good.

Career high 39pts in draft year + 6... he's not worth what you think he's worth.

Dude - it isn't Severson that breaks this trade - it's the value of the 7OA to a rebuilding organization that breaks this trade. It's not worth only two years of guaranteed JG, outside of a compete window.

I mean I suppose that's fair.
But now consider that NJ has been "rebuilding" for years now and its not working. How many more times do you want to draft in the top 5, top 10 before you consider it time to move on?

Also have to take into consideration Johnny is from Jersey, lives on the shore in the off-season and his fiance lives hours away.
He's made it clear he'd love to play for his hometown, if any Jersey fan thinks he wouldn't re-sign in NJ they are insane.

With that being said any time you're acquiring a 90+ pt winger you're going to have to give up something to get him.
The 7OA pick's chance to come even remotely close to the player Johnny is is staggeringly slim. Not saying it cant happen but very few players in the NHL consistently put up those point totals.

Newsflash. Where did I or any devil fans ever say that?
Let’s break down the trade.
1.Gaudreau. Quite valuable but we aren’t winning in the next two years. Why would we give up severson and leave our team with maybe one top four defenseman? I’d rather sign Gaudreau for free in two years.
2. Lucic. Has extremely negative value and the negative value he has and the positive value that Gaudreau have almost cancel each other out.
3. Parsons is playing in the ECHL.
4. The second is nice. But the difference between Gaudreau and Lucic in value and that second doesn’t even come close to Severson and our first next year.
When a trade is proposed. It isn’t just value that is considered. It is also needs and severson would be an overpayment.

Rebuilding for years? Since they’ve went to the cup finals they’ve had 3 top ten picks and one was last year.
Taking into consideration where people are from Ian t how you run a business.
You even said it yourself “we are insane” if we think he won’t resign. Why would we give up something and “hurt” our rebuild and give up assets for Gaudreau when he is just “apparently” going to sign here anyway.
So to get Gaudreau we are giving up a first next year and Severson. Not to mention the first the year after is probably not going to be top ten either because he makes out team better.
Have Gaudreau in two years plus Severaon and arguably two other top ten picks. I’ll take that Instead of just Gaudreau . Lol.

Are you having a stroke? Better get that looked at you're so mad you're spitting all over your keyboard.
He wont be around in 2 years to sign as a UFA, he'll be locked in a contract with another team in the East (Philly/NYR etc)
So yea, if you take him now in a trade the chances of RE-SIGNING are high but if you choose not to (again your choice) then chances of him going to his UFA year are pretty slim someone will lock him up.

Don't care if you don't want him, not saying you have to trade for him but you're not getting him for free and its going to cost assets of quality to acquire him.

UFA's with 0 years left on their deals get traded for more than what most fans in NJ think Johnny is worth. That's the main point here.

Have you looked at where JG is from in Jersey? South Jersey. He's a Flyers fan who grew up watching his favorite team lose to Marty Brodeur et al for his entire childhood. He's not taking a home-town discount to play with NJ when his dream is (probably) to play with PHI.

Agreed on giving up to get something back - but personally, I draw the line at the 7OA. We should be selecting a future top-6 winger (please not a Zacha repeat). I also think if they are going to move their mid/late 1sts, they should be looking to go after defensemen. Frankly, I think JG is a bad fit given the current landscape of the team.

Not mad lol. Just making valid points. I wasn’t the one who made the trade proposal.
I justified why I don’t want to trade all of that for Gaudreau then you responded that we think he’s the second coming of Lidstrom. I explained why the trade never made sense. It was pretty clear.
