Description
Coyotes beat writer Craig Morgan just created a list to show who's available and who isn't for the Coyotes this offseason:

The first group is players that he calls "value lost", meaning they will not trade them because they are on great contracts, are young, and bring something irreplaceable to the lineup.

Second Group are players that they won't trade simply because they would be selling low on said players after a disappointing season.

Third group is called "Most Marketable Assets", which means that they are players that they wouldn't be opposed to trading, but need a huge return in order to even consider. (In my opinion they shouldn't even entertain offers on Chychrun because he is our best defenseman and on a steal of a contract, however if some team completely empties the vault for him they could accept)

Last group is called "Tradeable Assets", or who the Coyotes will be looking to unload this summer/fall. Most of these players are worth a mid round pick or higher, and worth even more when packaged together. My prediction is that Raanta, Goligoski, and Stepan are traded.

What would you call a realistic price for Hjalmarsson going to the Leafs? Good prospect(Abramov, Korshkov etc) and a 2nd? Or would it need to be a first + an asset?

I think that they'd be happy with Abramov plus this year's 2nd rounder for Hjalmarsson. Personally I'd keep him over the other d-men listed but if he can fetch us a second round pick then I think they have to consider it.

If they can find a way to lose salary in another trade I think that this is something that they would be interested in doing

I wonder about OEL being in the third category. I think they want to shed the contract.

People on here act like OEL is a third pairing defenseman. In reality he's still a top pairing guy, just not the elite defenseman they're paying him to be. He will play much better under a new coach (Tocchet and him apparently do not get along) and he could be well worth the money. But worst case scenario you're getting someone who is defensively reliable with offensive upside (on a top pair).

The desire to shed the contract has no bearing on the quality of the player and I didn't imply otherwise. I simply stated that I think they want to move the contract and I believe that. They have a money issue.

I like Craig Morgan, but I'm gonna have to disagree on Crouse, he brings absolutely nothing I want to a team, he's like Nick Ritchie, but like not even good at hockey, I'd also put Hino in the second category, and I agree with the OP that I just simply wouldn't trade Chychrun at all p much

But if they’re moving him they’ll get a good return for him. Not like all these “OEL to MTL for Poehling, Mete, and a second” threads I've seen. Their purpose is 2 fold, shed salary and improve the team/teams future. They won’t sacrifice #2 for #1.

You gotta be friends with Hino or related to him or something. He was abysmal this year. Crouse scored 15 goals (career high) and was the only mildly physical person on the roster. And he’s on an affordable contract for 2 more seasons. What’s not to like?

I think their top priority is moving the contract. They can still get a good return.

Yes, Hino was not good this year, but at his age I'm guessing 17-19 Hino is more likely to happen in the 20-21 season than 19-20 Hino, and aside from those 15 goals and hitting people (usually mis timed/fnishing checks when the puck is already past him) he brings next to nothing

I’m not opposed to bringing Hino back on a reasonable contract. It’s the “jettison Crouse into the sun” that I don’t understand. He’s a solid 3 line LW

I think that you've only got three promotable prospects in the system: Hayton, Soderstrom and Capobianco. I think all three belong in the "Do Not Trade" category.

God help you. This is going to be a rough year.

I think Capo and Hayton will be on the team but Soda might start in the AHL. If he impresses at camp I could easily see him getting a spot.

Believe me I know, it’s going to be tough to handle especially after the last 2 seasons of optimism about this young core
