Arizona retaining is a non starter, I believe Arizona is going to fire sale down to salary cap basement, but they would need something greater than this back for oel

I dont think any interested team have the cap space to make it works then. If they take Alzner it might work.

Arizona can’t afford 8x retained, probably going to need to be creative to fire sale down to cellar

OEL would be a huge add but the guy is making so much money well into his 30s......essentially signing MTL to paying for Price Weber and OEL instead of focusing on making sure they can pay JK and Suzuki after thier bridge deal contracts that are bound to come.

Add in that if Caufield comes in as a rookie and starts putting up 20-30 goals a season then his contract out of ELC will be another high number before those other contracts are up.

So it's a tentative yes from me but I wouldn't be expecting Phoenix to retain and I would hope they only get what's in the trade above

The future of AZ is still OEL and Clayton Keller. Schmaltz is pretty good, too. No one else on that team matters. If they tear down to the studs, lose Hall and ship off Kessel and/or Stepan, they'll be OK. Losing Hall and eating half of Kessel's contract gets them where they need to be to be compliant. They should probably try to keep Soderberg, who might sign at a bit of a discount, but letting him walk open another $5M. In prospects, Soderstrom and Jenik are the real deal. Prosvetov could replace Raanta in nets. They're thin on draft picks for the next 2 years, but the low taxes in the desert will make them a decent target for some reasonable UFAs.

My question would be though if they go to 4 hub cities for next season, so no fans in the seats in Phoenix and no buzz, so why pay to the limit, especially when new owners money is in casinos and entertainment, so maybe looking to cut costs, with new gms spin on things. But that’s a lot of what ifs? If I got decent odds I would bet there’s some fire sales coming in Florida and Phoenix

Salaries are linked to the TV revenues in this case, so everything will be relative to how those TV revenues are doing. But I think all the other league equalization BS is still there, so AZ will continue to suck revs from the "have" owners. That will never change.
