not bad but Bennett isn't really an upgrade on McCann and Maniscalco is going to need a season in the A

Why is every trade involving Calgary either Johnny or Mony for trash, or Bennett and a pick for a goalie can we like, stop that

The problem I see with the Bennett trade is that it does nothing to give him a shot at playing "up" in the lineup.
That's been the entire issue with him here is that he plays behind Mony & Backlund and now you've slotted him behind Sid & Geno

Getting bennett is pointless if you’re not going to try him on either Crosby or Malkin’s wing. Would rather just keep McCann and move him to wing.

I am a big Bennett fan, but getting over 30pts once in your career doesn't get you slotted higher in the lineup.

I disagree, the Pens have been looking for an ideal 3rd line centre since they lost Bonino. Bennett brings what they need to the 3rd line and he hits everything. His regular season numbers aren't good, but the Pens don't need good regular season numbers from him. They need the intensity that he brings in the playoffs.

He’s not a center though. Anytime he has had to consistently take faceoffs, his FO% isn’t great. It’s equal to McCann. His career FO% is 48% which is about where McCann is at.

He is a centre. Part of the reason he hasn't developed well in Calgary is because they have bounced him around the line-up. The reason he wasn't taking draws in the Dallas series was because of his injury. However, he was still basically the centre on that line. Now if you have a 3rd line of McCann - Bennett - Bjugstad or Horny (depending on which one gets moved for cap space), you have 2-3 options for the draw and you have both sides of the ice covered.

HE IS NOT A CENTER! HE WASNT A CONSISTENT CENTER THIS YEAR! HE HAS ONLY CONSISTENTLY PLAYED CENTER TWO YEARS IN HIS CAREER AND NOT IN LIKE THREE YEARS! Not to mention, if you use the excuse that he hasn’t progressed because he has bounced around the lineup, then it really makes no sense to trade for him as Sully is the king of bouncing players around the lineup lol

Relax...no need to yell. Just because you don't think he is a centre, doesn't mean that you are right. One thing to note about Bennett is that Calgary fans and the team really like him regardless of the fact that he has only put up more than 30pts once. Another important thing to note is that Dube and Bennett actually made Lucic look like he still belonged in the NHL. There is a lot more to Bennet than what you are giving him credit for. I understand that Sully tends to bounce players around the lineup (usually because of injuries) and sometimes you need to do that, However if he can establish 4 lines that work, than there isn't much need in bouncing players around. Right now we know that there is one line (BART) that Sully likes and two pairings (Jake +Sid, Geno + Rust) that he seems to favor. With Kapanen these pairings may get changed, but with Bennett on the third, if he has chemistry with either McCann, Bjugstad, Simon, Horny (depends on what JR does) than he will stay on the third and be able to finish developing into the player that the Pens need.

I’m not yelling, it’s the internet lol. And I never said he wasn’t a center. I said he isn’t an upgrade at center over McCann. Hence why I’d put him in the top 6 if I’m trading for him. But it all depends on other moves the pens make. Hopefully they can move that Hornqvist deal. Also Rust isn’t paired with Geno. Zucker is more a mainstay on that line than Rust is.

Well you did post this in all caps (which is considered internet yelling) "HE IS NOT A CENTER! HE WASNT A CONSISTENT CENTER THIS YEAR! HE HAS ONLY CONSISTENTLY PLAYED CENTER TWO YEARS IN HIS CAREER AND NOT IN LIKE THREE YEARS"

Sure sounds like you are not calling him a centre.

After the season that Rust and Geno had primarily playing together, the only reasons they won't be paired is if Sid wants Rust or if Sully prefers Kappy with Geno.

Keywords in that “CONSISTENT CENTER”.

As for Rust...is that why he got taken off Genos line vs Montreal in favor of Hornqvist? I think it all depends on trades that are made this offseason. The only thing certain right now is that Guentzel and Kap are on the first line to start. But i know McCann is likely going to take a top 6 wing role. Because he isn’t the same player at center that he is at wing.
