Dermott is statistically better than Murphy. It's likely a bi-product from playing on a more successful TOR team, but I like his improved footspeed over Murphy. I think Freddy is a decent goaltender and has been overworked in TOR; I'd like to see Lankinen or Delia work in an NHL tandem this season.
If it doesn't work out, Freddy can always be a deadline trade piece similar to Lehner.
I hear what you're saying statistically, but take a look at the link below. The most important part about these charts are the "content" section. It's indeed arguable that Dermott does indeed marginally edge Murphy in the stats section. What's more important is though....
Murphy - Plays 85% of the time against the opposing teams top competition - 12% Ozone Start Ratio - Has a 35% quality linemate when he goes out there.
Dermott - 35% against elite - 70% Ozone start ratio - 78% quality linemmate when he goes out there.
So I hear you on the marginally better stats, but Murphy A.) flips the ice B.) does against better competition and C.) doesn't get nearly as much help as Dermott. That's why like hate the idea of trading away Murphy. Oh and he's cost controlled for 2 more years.

Agreed on the over worked with Freddie, but Crow's been very vocal that he wants to stay and money isn't his primary concern. I think we can get him...a better goalie...for less cap. Maybe another year though.
