Seriously though, Gaudreau for Konecny is a pretty fair trade despite what the Gaudreau detractors might have you believe. The Flyers would have no trouble extending Gaudreau so his two year term is not a concern there, and they'd probably even get a discount.

Gaudreau is definitely the better player, that's really not up for debate. Konecny's career high is similar to Gaudreau's career low. The difference is their contracts, however I don't think there is any worry at all when it comes to extending Johnny in Philly. When I say Calgary probably declines it is because Konecny doesn't actually change that much for them. Selling Gaudreau for futures is by far the better option.
