Description
WPG-NYI Trade
Jets acquire a top-4 LHD and bottom-6 NHLer at the league minimum. Isles acquire cap space, a depth defenseman, and mid-round draft picks.

DET-NYI Trade
Red Wings acquire good LHD prospect, a 1st round pick, and Johnny Boychuk/his cap hit. If the Red Wings want to buy Boychuk out, I can see the Islanders bringing him back for $1M like what the Capitals did with Brooks Orpik. Isles acquire $6M in cap space, a young tweener, and Adam Erne (who in this situation is not qualified and sent to UFA). EDIT: Decided to add Boychuk in at $1M, Oprik style.

NSH-NYI Trade
Predators acquire a goal scoring prospect, a recent 2nd round pick, a bottom pairing LHD who should be back in the NHL, and a 2022 3rd round pick. Isles acquire a versatile forward on a cheap contract, and a depth RHD who belongs back in the NHL (I'd rather have a reserve RHD than LHD since Dobson can play the left side). EDIT: Added a 7th since after NSH fans' input.

Isles sign Mat Barzal to a two-year bridge deal, Ryan Pulock to an eight-year deal, and Devon Toews to a six-year deal. They also bring back Andy Greene for one year at $1M, Matt Martin for one year at $800K, and sign Nick Shore as a reserve C/RW.

The top-6 forwards, the fourth line, and entire defense (aside from Leddy) stays in tact. The third line becomes insanely strong with Jarnkrok, Pageau, and Komarov. Komarov has been used a lot by Trotz and has played well with Pageau. Putting them with Jarnkrok puts stability in the carousel of that LW spot, and with Jarnkrok being versatile enough to play C he is a valuable piece to a team with poor organizational center depth. If Komarov stinks, we can call up Wahlstrom or play Ross Johnston at LW and move Jarnkrok to RW.

It feels pretty fair, from a Detroit fan angle I think. So hard to predict what the price for dumps is IMO. Certainly starts with that 1st. My inclination is to squeeze a better prospect like Wilde. I don’t dislike Salo tho. I think Erne style of play would fit in with NYI really well and if they brought him to camp might he beat out a guy like Johnston.

As a Wings fan I say yes. Not crazy about the cap hit but I think we can handle it for two years for a 1st

I like the overall idea of taking on Boychuk to get a 1st.

Not going to pretend like i know anything about Salo, but I like the overall feel of the trade.

The original deal around here was Bellows and a 4th for Jarnkrok. I added Iskhakov and upgraded the pick from a 4th to a 3rd, and had the Isles taking Santini back. Hickey is a good NHL defenseman, we just had an absolute logjam, then he and Pelech got hurt so we traded for Andy Greene, who is better than Hickey. But Hickey is definitely better than Tinordi, and I'm not sure what NSH's other options are aside from signing a free agent.

If you don't want Hickey, the original deal works, but I'd like something small coming back with Jarnkrok like a depth forward or defenseman on a cheap deal, or a prospect like Brandon Fortunato (I'm a QU alum so I'll take all the Bobcats I can get).

So Jarnkrok, Santini, and a 4th for Bellows, Iskhahov, and a 3rd? I think that's a better deal for NSH than NYI. I'd lower Iskhahov to a lesser prospect or take him out completely, then I'd do it. Or the higher pick comes to NYI and the lower pick goes to NSH. I guess my counters would be:

Jarnkrok, Santini, 4th for Bellows, Iskhahov, 5th (doesn't really work cap-wise for NYI here but value is good for both teams)
Jarnkrok, Fortunato for Bellows, Iskhahov, 5th (works cap-wise but barely)

If that's the dealbreaker then sure, but I think the Red Wings would like a prospect like Salo more since he's much closer to NHL ready. He's been playing professional for a few years, Bolduc is going to play his first professional season next year. Plus, I think Lou would rather move Salo than Bolduc since he drafted Bolduc and not Salo.

I personally like bolduc better, big fan of his and think he's a top 4 dman in the making and fits our rebuild perfectly.

If something small is added from DET, like a 5th or something, then sure.

His buyout is very minimal. It would be worth it.

I think there is a deal to be made there if NSH is interested in making some changes. Iskhahov is an interesting prospect -- talented and skilled, but he has an incredibly small frame at 5'7", so it's no guarantee that he ends up making the NHL. I'm also not too high on Bellows and think he's pretty one-dimensional. But if he can develop into a 20-goal scorer, he could be a good Craig Smith replacement for NSH moving forward. I like the idea of a Trenin - Tomasino - Bellows line though -- a big body in Trenin on the forecheck, with a creative, playmaking center in Tomasino, and a good shot in Bellows.

I'd probably want that 5th to be a 4th and then I'd say yes. Jarnkrok is an extremely versatile player that can go up and down a line-up, center or wing, and has a great cap hit for the next couple of flat cap seasons. I think that contract will make him more valuable as teams are trying to find cheaper help. Maybe Jarnkrok + Fortunato + 5th for Bellows + Iskahov + 3rd. But regardless, at the end of the day I think a deal could be negotiated here.

Interesting. I didn't look into that aspect of it. You're right, it is a pretty low cost buyout. In that case, the deal isn't really that bad. Maybe add an additional late pick on the NYI side like a 6th or 7th as NSH doesn't have a 7th the next two years and I'd accept. Might even just accept that deal. I think Bellows + 3rd is fair for Jarnkrok -- so Hickey and a maybe prospect for Santini, with potentially a late pick added. It's definitely an interesting offer that I think has some merit and could ultimately be negotiated into a done deal.

I'd have no problem adding a 7th from NYI. I'll put that in!
