Massive overpayment for the Leafs in the Ekblad trade.

Pietrangelo the target yesterday on Leafs boards - seems it's Ekblad today.

I don't know...for their best D? On a team thats still trying to contend, sorta? I think Panthers would think about this, and also Vatrano is a nice piece and probably an upgrade from Johnsson

Is Ekblad really that good? When I watch him I think he's good but not elite. I think it's an upgrade for the Leafs but at 7.5 mil I think I would look at other options.

Lets's imagine Johnsson and Vatrano are an even trade. Leafs are trading up three non NHL contracts...Liljegren, Sandin and the first rounder for 7.5m for Ekblad. Leafs would be much better in the near term and long term, is not make the trade, keep the young cheap assets and spend 7m on UFAs....yeah maybe not as good Ekblad, immediately but better value.

Preds decline. Saros is the future goalie, depending on how much Ingram continues to develop.
