Description
Intent would be to trade Johnsson late in the season when his value is back up. Right now everyone seems to have forgotten that he's basically another Hyman when he's top of his game.

Is your goal for Leafs to stop sucking in 3 or 4 years??

Aside from the unrealistic Pulock trade, your deals and lineup looks more like a rebuild.

Obviously the Hoffman signing doesn't work as your way over the cap.

Last I checked (1) You guys have too much D, and (2) You can't afford to re-sign him.
Offersheet comp on a player under $4,227,437 is a 2nd soooo....you were saying?

See comment above on Pulock. As for being over the cap, remember the LTIR means I'm only over by $2M and I have about 5 players who are on there that are simply to show they'll likely play during an injury or fighting for a spot in camp. Lastly, As I said in my notes above, the intent would be to trade Johnny soooo no, I'm not over the cap at all.

You can't get in the way of family! No seriously, why not? And if it's compensation, then what would you propose?

To tell you how far off you are on value for Pulock you are, first Pulock will most likely get between 6 and 7 Million AAV. I would not trade Pulock for Marner Straight up nor Nylander. He is the Islanders Top RHD.

Fair enough. Do you have an Armchair for the Islanders? Curious to see what you'd do for the team.

The hawks are trying to reload and are looking more on the blueline. 2 firsts is steep for Nylander in my opinion. Id say a 1st, a good prospect and a roster player maybe.

A 2nd and a 3rd is dirt cheap on a goalie with an off year who was a Vezina candidate and extremely likely to have a bounce back year. You all could have gone way further with a better goalie and I wish you did. I think it's a better trade for you than it is us, but I could see how since you probably don't watch Leafs games you think Freddy isn't worth way more. We'd be selling low on him.

Fair enough, thanks for explaining. I think the value on Nylander here is very fair and even potentially underpriced, but I also get what you're saying. If it doesn't work for the team I hear you.

First off you dont know me, so you cant say Im just another fanboy, Look at some of the Islanders AGMs you can see that many others are saying the same thing for his AAV. As for trade value, Pulock vs Nylander is close but I would always put the edge towards RHD over wingers. As far as the Pulock Vs Marner, Marner comes with a cap hit of 11M that the Islanders can in no way fit. The Value is not there for trading Pulock as they have no way to replace him. By the way, several AGMs between Jets and Islanders fans talked about Kyle Conner for Pulock straight up. The Islanders should not do that either because thier defense is too important to thier game.

It's one thing to say Marner doesn't fit your team, it's another to say they're worth the same. We'll see what happens but I think Pulock signs a 2 year deal. I'll take your word for it that it'll still be 6-6.5M. I'm not sure if Nylander would be a good comp then, Nylander still has a lot of upside. And holy **** would he do well under Trotz. Scare the lazy out of his bones. As for your D game, I've heard Islanders fans split on this. You guys have too much D and need offensive help.

I will say, based on what you're saying, I see what you're saying about the value here being way too low. Thanks

You need to do some more research on the cap. Ltir is already accounted for in your numbers. This site automatically takes it into account.

You said you are trading AJ in-season, therefore you are over the cap.

It's really not that hard.

I dont know if thats underpriced for Nylander. 2 firsts is a lot for any team to give up. Nylander is a good winger but I cant think of a player the has been traded for 2 first round picks.

That's not how cap hit works. It's only a hit if and while they are on the roster and like I said I have 5 spares. Then if someone is on LTIR, that is cap space that can be used by a call up. And if Johnny is traded then the cap is freed up by the % of games unplayed. It's really hard for you apparently.

I didnt say anything about Marners value, just that I wouldnt do the trade 1 for 1. However I was implying that its not out of the ball park value wise. I think higher than Nylander, Lower than Marner. Im not sure that Nylander can play in Trotz's style. Trotz and Lou ask you to sacrifice personal for team. If you can buy in you can thrive, if not you sink. The Islanders do have too much D, right now its a LHD abundance until Dobson can take a top 4 spot, then it will be a RHD abundance. Pulock and Mayfield are 2 very important pieces for the team right now, niether one can be replaced internally till Dobson is ready.
I dont think the Islanders will do anything short term with Pulock, I think you go short with Barzal and long with Pulock. Barzal will play against the short term deal while hoping for a bigger contract after the Covid affected CAP ends. 3 years or less at 7-8 Million now, 9-10 later.

It's not just two 1sts for Nylander, it's a 2nd back. So to be honest, I think a poor team would take this trade a lot more eagerly. I was trying to think of someone like Florida or Arizona. Reason being is they're poor and most of his salary has been paid for the remainder of the contract. I only picked Chicago because his brother is there. But after discussions in this thread, I honestly believe he'd reach his potential under some hard ass like Trotz or Torts. Nylander is a sick player, but dear god can he be a lazy sh**.

Alright you have me sold on what you're saying. And as for Nylander, I wish you were wrong. Seriously he has potential to be a star, I just don't understand him sometimes. Maybe Torts can get to him.
