So Detroit gave a second for the 8OA and a top 15 goalie prospect, no way buffalo does that even with Okposo out...We aren't in position to waste assets

At what point did you think the Leafs were going to pay you to take players that teams that are cap screwed are going to want to replace contracts they need to dump. A bunch of teams are paying guys like 5 mill to produce at the same rate.

Yeah I mean Okposo has a pretty big cap hit and term so wouldn't be cheap to move but in the end only dropping 7 spots in the 1st, losing a 2nd and a goalie prospect who's a few years away to basically replace Okposo's cap hit with two younger, more productive players that give Sabres better depth so they can win now so Eichel doesn't go crazy seemed reasonable to me

There could be another add included for Toronto I guess but I mean it's not a forgone conclusion there will be buyers for Johnsson and Kerfoot, they aren't dumps but not exactly hot commodities and teams have leverage on Toronto in trade talks knowing they want to move cap and probably won't take any back. If that's the case and assuming the Leafs are planning to sign Petro, it may be easier to just move them both in one fell swoop if possible despite the value not being amazing

The Leafs aren't planning on signing Petro. I'm 100% they wouldn't say no to signing him but they are looking for a defensive rough and tumble guy. A Dumba type player. They actually already tried to get a deal done for Dumba. Now with the Kappenen deal the Leafs aren't in need of the cap freedom. Those guys were actually part of the ask. Not the key obviously but they were mentioned.
