If Kap can get that, Murphy will get more. Murphy > Kap
I would trade Murphy unless we get Quinn or Sanderson and they won't drop to 15

Leafs wanted very much to get back in the 1st round of a very deep 2020 draft. They are clearly going after one of 3 players, the most likely scenario, provided he is not drafted in the first 14 picks, is Braden Schneider. It would not surprise me at all, now that there is a comp out there, the Leafs could come up with a deal (ahem, Vegas) that gets them a late 1st round pick and draft Justin Barron. Bottom line, the Leafs are hanging on to the Pens 1st.

Quinn possibly, not Sanderson. Jarvis, Holloway, Zary are all very solid picks. If the Hawks landed 15 and 17, they pick up a winger and center (to replace Strome) while getting Brodin. The defense looks solid with plenty of young guys and the offense looks really good with a lot of young guys. Think about all the prospects; Beaudin, Vlasic, Regula, Mitchell, Quinn, Holloway, Suter, Kurashev...that's deep

People were saying that about sandin. Nhl ready after 1 year.

This works as we then can move liligren for cernak and have another solid rhd prospect in Schneider to replace him

Schneider is interesting one, could be a reach at 15 and is not projected as a first liner in the league but also could surprise. Regardless, he's 2 to 3 years away from the league so does nothing to solve for a team trying to compete in the interim

How'd he work out after 1 year?

I think Chicago needs to add. Add this point we know what Brodin provides. The jury is still out on Strome. I think a trade could happen with the two parties, but the Wild need some extra insurance.

Strome has proven himself and Minnesota gets a RFA that they bridge and control his entire career.

a 44 point center who just had a down year and is getting bumped down the lineup is worth a top pairing defenseman? Come on even Domi has proven more and Wild fans don't want that 1 for 1 trade. I'm not against trading for Strome. The Wild will just hang up though if you offered this to them.

Agreed. If we could land Jarvis and Zary that's a great draft

You're not reading this correct. You have to look at the shortened regular season and pro-rate it to 82 games. Strome would have had 53.75 points in a regular season. Last season he had 57 points. He has shown he's a 50+ point player and did so at 22 and 23 years old and is a RFA where the Wild would have total control of his career. Brodin is a 1 year rental, that's all his value is...one year. Also on a good defensive team is not a first liner.

not enough for Brodin.

Brodin is a 1 year rental, that is more then enough for a 23 year old career controlled RFA center that has two seasons in a row of over 50 points

Doesn't matter, Minnesota doesn't own the right to it, they only own the right to 1 year which at the end of the day, doesn't have more value then a RFA cost controlled 23 year 2C 50+ point player.

Well, people said similar things about Jakob Chychrun, was drafted 16th overall, and look what happened to him. He started in the NHL that very next season and stayed there. I cannot guarantee you that will be Schneider's trajectory, but he's a good skater, with good size and plays a solid positional game already, oh and did I mention his NHL-calibre point shot. Sure, he has work to do, but perhaps playing on a 3rd pairing alongside Rasmus Sandin for a season gets his feet wet. I have no doubt the kid could jump into the NHL quickly, how quickly remains to be seen? And I am not sure if a team that is suppose to be "competitive" wants to deal with those sorts of growing pains.

We can give plenty of examples of outliers that did jump up early and also ones that did and their progress stalled because they were rushed. Again, we can also say all the scouts are wrong and this kid is a first liner, happens for sure, but more often they are right. It’s hard to count on going against the scouting reports and odds. Likely he is a second or third liner and will take a year to three to make the NHL. This kid isn’t Dahlin (who struggled) or Hughes.
