Got to admit I thought about Jost on the 2nd line too, but Bednar won’t do it. If decides to mix the line up some I could see something like
Landy MacK Namestikov
Burakovsky Kadri Mikko - get the 2nd line going
Jost Compher Nichushkin
Calvert PEB Nieto

I would be surprised if they take Donskoi out.

I would be interested to see Rantanen with Kadri too. I don’t recall them ever getting much of a chance to play on a line at 5v5 during the regular season. I think if they go that route, Burakovsky moves up with MacKinnon and Landeskog.

The other twist would be to put Kadri-Landeskog back together and use them as a shut down line, probably with Donskoi or Nichushkin. The Seguin line didn’t seem like they were going to be a problem going into the series. But after game 1, Bednar may look at matching a forward line with them, especially since Johnson could be out.

Yeah I don’t disagree I was just throwing ideas out and it doesn’t matter what the lines are if half of them don’t want to back check or forecheck which I guarantee was driving Bednar crazy.

I was really surprised by how slow they were off the start in game 1. The comments from Bednar, MacKinnon, and others over the last 2 days make me think that won’t happen again in game 2, but we will see. A lot of other people have made this comparison, but it reminds me of game 1 against Calgary last year.

I think Nichushkin out if Calvert is healthy to come in.

Not sure if I go Timmins here.
Connauton hasnt looked bad, and as much as i hate to admit it Barberio has more experience in this scenario and would be less likely to make a "playoff nerves" mistake than Timmins.
Both are LHD, Cole moves to the RHD on third pairing.

Series against ARI i want Landeskog down to second line, i still think we should make that move here. Try to beat DAL on depth (although injuries might counter this thought)

Nichushkin probably deserve to sit, but if all forwards are available Bednar will sit Jost or Nieto.

Timmins should play period if EJ isn’t able to go.

The little offense Jost produced > lack of any defence/ offense Nichushkin has produced this postseason.
Timmins deserves a shot, but compared to Connauton/Barberio, hes got much greater risk of making a playoff nerves mistake

I’ll take the best player 10 out of 10 times. Also if EJ doesn’t go whomever it is will probably play 10 minutes.

I don’t disagree, but what better chance to get a future top 4 guy minutes in a playoff game that are going to be shielded. I think it is a missed opportunity and sometimes playing it safe isn’t the best play just saying.

Or maybe Bednar doesnt want anymore Timmins set backs?

DAL is a heavy team, did you see the clip of Benn targeting Johnsons knee?
https://twitter.com/adater/status/1297416435845668864

Lets not throw Timmins in the deep end, give the guy a fighting chance to get off on a good foot

You’re giving DAL to much credit. 80% of the reason the Avs lost was in themselves. This isn’t like an NFL qb break in, and if you’re worried that he is that fragile it’s time to move on. He is 2 yrs removed from the concussion.

You’re really going to tell me COL didn’t implode with stupid preventable mistakes in that 9 minutes? Yeah Radulov planned that puck luck goal. And no Connauton didn’t look bad. That was maybe the most aggravating game ever to watch because they pissed it away.

Nope. I firmly believe it’s not what the Stars are doing that are causing problems, it’s what the Avs aren’t doing.
