Trading away Andersen AND a 3rd round pick for someone who will never play in the NHL again has to be the worst trade I've seen yet for him, and then we're signing Murray for similar money who is a downgrade to Andersen? I don't mind the trade, but that contract is brutal, and we don't need to pay anyone to get rid of Andersen

yea that kid got some bad advice... I wouldn't send anything more than a 3rd pick for him... maybe

Matthews, Laine, Aho, Dubois, Tkachuk, rantonan... all making beaucoup bucks and he's playing in Europe for a free apartment and groceries

I think the Marner trade is reasonable, even though Gaudreau is a free agent sooner than Marner. I like the Murray trade too, I wouldn't give up much more than that for him personally, even though Pittsburgh will likely get more back if they trade him. Philadelphia trade is also fair valuewise, but after this year Laughton seems to be an integral part of the Flyers' bottom 6, might have to overpay a little bit to get him.

With $4 million in cap space, I think Toronto should pursue someone other than Bogosian with that money. I've been impressed with him in Tampa, but I think if that's the big improvement they make on the backend, they might be in trouble. I'd even prefer Radko Gudas tbh, while I think Demelo is the ideal option. Could also browse the trade market like they did last year. As for the Oilers trade, I saw a rumor recently that Puljujarvi might came back to the Edmonton for next season (not sure how legit it is but something to consider). I think the Leafs are better off with Anderson anyways, so maybe don't do the Pittsburgh or Edmonton trades, dump Johnsson elsewhere for a pick or two and call it a day. Nevertheless, I think they're better overall either way.

Not a Leafs fan so I probably have no idea what I'm talking about but I don't think it's bad.

Trade Marner - and our Top 4 takes a leap backwards (which is hard to do!).

Gaudreau is UFA 2 years (same year as Rielly) and therefore walks - so no marner deal is not reasonable.

I suppose it comes down to what you think a 5mil UFA to be goalie is worth in trade during an offseason full of good goalkeepers had for nothing in trade, or younger, longer term options.

Pully playing 1st line time with Auston Matthews is more than enough to get him back in the NHL, (not to mention not having that circus in EDM). But I don't think the trade market for a 5mil UFA to be Andersen is wide, as I said in the offseason with guys like Holtby available as a UFA and tradeable guys like Murray, Fleury/lehner.

Other than the real contenders who need a No 1 immediately, in all probability for 1 season, not too many of them will opt for UFA to be Andersen ( maybe teams who did well in the playoffs but want an instant and 1 season upgrade like EDM, CGY, CAR). SO to be fair, I don't think theres a big trade market or return for Andersen.

And if TOR moves Andersen, under their cap, what is available and might serve as a cheaper, longer term option? Murray will take a pay cut to be a No 1, (but as a successful RFA goalie making 5mil now, hes not going to come for much cheaper) and is probably one of the best sub 6 mil options out there, especially given that IMO Johnsson and 2 4ths isn't a great price.

Murray for Johnsson, 4th, 4th.

Pens don't want Johnsson.

Pens counter with Murray for Kapanen, 2nd.

If it were either Kerfoot or Kapanen the Pens would consider it. Not Johnsson.
