Hard pass on the pens trade. Taking on the bigger cap hit of Gogo who is a LD that we still have 3 I’d play over him without Riikola while also retaining 1/3 of JJs cap and giving up Riikola, McCann, and a 3rd in the process. Thanks but no thanks.

Just tried to clear cap one bite at a time. There's cap room to add two decent forwards in free agency. It's about gaining the flexibility to do other things.

Goligoski puts up 35-40 points every year and eats 22 minutes a night on an expiring contract. I've never been that impressed with Petterson, but that's just me. I don't think Rikkola has much value, and everybody is going to be trying to dump contracts like JJ's. Just my opinion

That BUF trade is really bad. Schmaltz and Risto have a similar AAV. But Schmaltz is a pretty good top 6 center IMO, while Risto has been below average in any aspect of the game last year. His metrix gets worse every season for the past few years and he doesn't suit the Coyotes game. The trade barely improves their cap situation either. Raanta easily can be traded for draft picks if you want to clear cap space. And it wouldn't weaken the team like this trade does.

FLA declines and I'm not sure about the other trades. But I do know that this Coyotes team will be pretty bad. And the 10M cap space is fun but some of the bigger FA's won't sign in Arizona

Schmaltz is terrible at center. He's a one -dimensional, inconsistent winger. Risto is Risto. Has his own warts. I think they're close to equal value, and I'd be willing to roll the dice because if there is one thing AZ has no shortage of it's diminutive wingers who won't use the inside of the ice and don't play defense.

I also don't think teams are going to be handing out draft picks for established players this overseason or I would have done it for most of these guys. You think I WANT Anisimov, Hutton, JJ, et al? Almost everyone is going to be trying to shed cap and salary. I'd be thrilled to get Tage Thompson for Raanta even if I have to bury or buyout Hutton.

That’s nice, but there is no room on this team for him. Even after getting rid of JJ and Riikola. The pens are high on Dumo, Petterson, and POJ. If Riikola and JJ are gone, that means POJ will get the nod at 3LD. If the pens get rid of JJ, it will be to clear cap space, not add it.
