If Stepan were still a #2 center you wouldn’t want to move him. You won’t get a high pick for your cap dumps if we take them. We’ll likely send money back, like Hutton, especially if we take Raanta.

Even if Stepan is a 3C, $3.5 million is still pretty cheap, especially since his actual salary number is only $2million before the retention. Coyotes won't take any more money back, which is why I think a draft pick is more realistic.

I very much doubt the Sabres are even trying to find a different goaltender. They will not buy out or bury Hutton because they don’t want to deal with dead cap money, Particularly in a year where no one will spend to the salary cap. If the deal for Stepan is contingent on taking Raanta too they might not bother. They may wait to see who is bought out when teams find no trade partners to take their cap dumps.

Caps have no use for another LHD in Oesterle, if you want Kempny the ask would be a mid-round pick.

No contingency, the Coyotes could find another trade partner for Raanta and would be happy to trade Stepan straight up. Just thought Buffalo was looking for goaltending as well.

Oesterle is RHD. Helps the Caps by giving them an extra $1.1 mil in wiggle room. Saw this trade proposed elsewhere with a 4th round pick attached instead (I think 6/7th rounder is more reasonable from the Caps perspective)

The 4th was going to the Caps in that one, not the Coyotes. Every image I can find of Oesterle has him being a left handed shot. Even if he plays the right side though, the Caps already have Jensen as their 3RD. Oesterle would be the 7th defenseman, and he's too expensive for that role.

I think the real value for the Caps is the $$ savings here. I think the Coyotes wouldn't mind sending a mid/late round pick to make this deal as opposed to vice versa. Personally I'm not a fan of Oesterle's so I would trade him for just about anything, but like I said I saw it proposed earlier and thought it was an interesting deal.

Hate to say it my dude but this current roster build isn't going to win anything heck they wouldn't be in the playoffs if it wasn't for Covid and it showed , and their up against the cap with no significant pieces for the future other Keller and Chychrun this team has to get a rework

This roster won't win a Stanley Cup anytime soon no doubt. But with a coaching change I think that this team has more untapped potential. I also think that blowing it up right now would be a mistake considering we would be selling low on most players.
