Description
2020 NHL Draft Picks

1st round - Brisson/Gunler/Foerster/Reichel/Perreault/Grans/Barron/Niemela
3rd round - Robins/Heineman/Powell/Puutio/Hunt

Coaching Changes - Rierden and Forsythe out, Gallant and Boudreau in.

Gallant and Boudreau on the same coaching staff should mean we're playing a tight structure with a lot of pace. We have the speed guys to play with pace, but we haven't done so in a long time. They should be able to get our team to play a fast, physical game while maintaining the structure to support Samsonov.

Kempny and Dillon out, Vatanen and Fehervary in. Dillon has been good for us, but we can let him go given our organization depth at LHD and salary situation. Kempny gets dealt to any team for whatever pick, I don't really care what it is. Fehervary can do everything Kempny can and do it better, so it wouldn't surprise me to see him paired with Carlson in short order. He's definitely ready to be a full-time NHLer. Adding Vatanen to our right side would be an incredible add for us. Him and Orlov could be a terrific second pairing to eat a lot of minutes and play in all situations.

Since we have no need for Kempny, Sharks reject. Sorry.

All good. I mentioned in the description that he can go to whatever team for whatever pick. San Jose just came to mind because of how good Kempny and Carlson were together and maybe the change of scenery could give a similar vibe with Karlsson.

The changes you mention are something I wouldn't mind seeing (coaches and roster) but think we need a scorer on the 3rd line also. As for your draft pick listing I read up on a few late first/early second round prospect and I like what they say about Foerster although after these playoffs they might be targeting someone with more SPEED since this is the obvious trend right now.

It seems you've got a bit of trust in Siegenthaler and Sprong. You know the Caps better than I do, so is Siegenthaler indeed ready for the top pair, and is Sprong indeed a good fit on that line?

Crawford is a very smart pickup as well. It's taken a long time for Vanecek to develop, so Crawford makes for a solid "insurance policy", if you will.

Understandable about Foerster. Obviously his shot is the calling card, but there's a lot of potential for him if his skating improves, which is pretty much all he needs to improve at this point.

A third line scorer would definitely be nice. I liked how Kovalchuk looked before the pause, but he's been incredibly quiet in the restart. I wouldn't;t mind bringing him back on a cheap deal, but I think the organization loves how Sprong has looked since the trade.

I honestly don't think Siegenthaler is "top pair ready" right now, I see him more as a placeholder for when Fehervary takes the spot next to Carlson. As far as Sprong goes, he's really impressed down in Hershey and management was raving about how he looked at camp, so I think we'd want to give him a look.

I do want Vanecek to get a few games in next season, but we definitely need some sort of veteran presence in the goalie room. Two young goalies with half a season of experience total isn't a good move if we're trying to capitalize on the closing window.
