Description

New GM in town for Florida, the owner openly said they want to cut 10mill (pre-pandemic).

Kappy and Johnson make less money than their cap hits and should help mitigate the likely loss of Hoffman and/or Dadonov. I am not saying they'll be as good as Danov and Hoffman (obviously) but they're both guys who have put up 20 goals and are young, have fair cap hits and the remaining money is less than their cap hits. the only issue is I doubt that Quenville wants rid of Weegar, but idk how the new GM will value him.

It's possible and not terribly unlikely but it's not something that for sure Florida wants to do

Also have the leafs bring the Wayne Train home on a 1 yr deal to add another real gud hometown vet

I’m wondering if he was the owner was possibly referencing the Bob contract indirectly, and then fired the Tallon bc of that 10 million dollar monstrosity.

And you focused on what I got wrong, instead of the thought that maybe the owner was indirectly referencing the horrible “10 million dollar” contract the GM gave out and he wants to cut that 10 million dollars.
Just a thought tryna read between the lines. Or maybe he really meant it very straight forward.. And he wants to cut 10 million from the books no matter where it comes from. Which pretty much just means not resigning their two biggest UFA’s.

The cutting of budget is all rumor and has no factual evidence behind it. That being said it wouldn’t be a shock it they did. Will be an interesting off season for a lot of teams for sure.
