Wut? Neal is one of the worst contract in the league sonhes definitely worth the first alone. Then you have Tatar retained (plus and extension) and Poehling for Broberg (since this team is already deep on defense)

Neal contract dump isnt worth 14OA in a deep draft to dump. I take it back that its an "awful trade", but Edmonton still says no.

IF Detroit were thinking of draft Askarov, its the right move. Otherwise they get the player they could have had at 11 and then don't get to add a second asset.


More digestible, trade back to 7 and pick up 18 from the Devils (IF they really want Drysdale or Sanderson, they should...). Then package 18 with a couple of your 2nd round picks (ex. 18+45+58+63) to a rebuilding team Minnie (?) for 9th overall or Nashville (?) for 11th overall.

7th Overall - Holtz, Sanderson, Quinn, Lundell, Perfetti, Rossi, Raymond (some of these will still be available.)
9th Overall - Askarov

Of course, Yzerman would have to set a lot up for this to happen, but it sure would be a fun change at the draft.

Neal's contract isn't too bad. He was on pace for 20 goals this season. Definitely overpaid but not worth that much

We have enough cap space to take on Russell as well. Thatd give you 4 more millions to sign whoever you feel like signing

That oilers trade can’t happen. I get Neal is over paid but it’s really not that bad of a contract.... keep in mind he’s still a reliable 20 goal scorer which if wanna compare contracts has Drouin passed 20 goals once for habs? Just because he’s been playing lower in the line up let’s not pretend he’s not capable of contributing. If he’s able to play a significant role on the best pp in the league can’t argue struggling pp teams wouldn’t be interested. This negative outlook on Neal really isn’t justifiable. It’s a tough contract but a good player

But you did traded him for Lucic (whis well known to be one of the worst deal in the league)... That must mean Neal have a somewhat big negative value on the market (similar to Lucics)

Ya when Neal was only one year into his deal and had a horrible run in Calgary then came to Edmonton and I thought bounced back excellent. Getting hurt really stunted his production. At one point he was on pace for 30 goals. His contract isn’t desirable but as long as he remains an effective player it’s not worth paying to remove.

BUF and MIN are taking Cs (Rossi or Perfetti to BUF and Lundell for MIN), WPG have no interrest in a goalie. NJ fans keep telling theyre good witj Blackwood and that theyll take Holtz. ANA is set in nets and OTT have got plenty of G prospects. He will be available at 11
