The difference between Murphy and Dermott does not outweigh the difference between Nylander and Saad

Totally fair. I think the cost to acquire a top 4 D at a low cap hit is pretty high (more than Kapanen for example). Just my opinion of course. I don’t think Murphy gets you Willy, either. Who knows?

Yeah, I think Dermott had a couple really solid games in the play in, so hes definitely gonna be seen as a viable bottom 4 guy now, I think thats the main problem for the value in this trade

I think from the Leafs side of things there's an issue with Saad's term putting the Leafs in a situation to need to resign him earlier than the Nylander contract. Having a solid contract signed until the league should be close to sorting out this mess is a valuable thing. In a non-pandemic era, you're really close to having something here but the pandemic definitely throws a wrench in things. I'm a steadfast believer in the abilities of the leafs top talent but outside the pandemic, it's not out of the question.
