Shatty is essentially Barrie-lite. Not the guy you need.

I’ve heard Shatty doesn’t like Canada and the Leafs don’t need worse Barrie anyway. I’ve heard they’re interested in Gudas, he’s like the defense version of Clifford (gritty, not what you think about as a classic Dubas guy, but Dubas is evolving and Gudas has good underlying numbers to boot so he’s not just a thug). Florida’s trying to cut costs so they don’t make that deal but somebody else will, I can think of several teams that would be very interested for that price and a few that would take him at that price just to try their luck at flipping him for more at the deadline.

Well, honestly, Shatty probably gets closer to $3.5-4 anyway...but still, that's the unfortunate thing about not being willing to trade any of the regular season big 4. $2-2.5 mil gets you some old guy that needs a home, or some bounce-back candidate. Essentially a Ron Hainsey-type.

Yeah just IMO Dubas won’t trade any of them especially Marner, they spent the entire offseason trying to sign him so trading him would’ve made all that time useless, I’m hoping he can get outta his funk and put up the numbers he’s capable of.

Agree with all of this, I’m looking forward to the new EU guys, Marner was 100% overpaid but I’m hoping he can figure out his problem and fix it, Naz trade was horrible but they need money, and in Dubas defence at the time of that trade they had no idea they’d end up getting 13th overall, they were expected to have 31-19. Soooo not really his fault. I’m really hoping this off-season they can figure **** out.

Agreed, I think they'll ride it out with the 4 of them and try to fill the holes as best as they can.

I like the idea of trying to get Gudas, but he's likely $3-3.5 mil. Not sure exactly how to fit that in though. When you're in a cap crunch, it's pretty rare that you're going to get full market value for a player.
